Back to talking about summer league:

I went to UNLV yesterday to watch the games for a few hours. A few random thoughts:

Aaron Craft is an NBA level defender, and his shooting form looked comfortable and improved.

Jaylen Brown has a TON of potential and may have been the best player I saw, other than JaVale McGee who randomly went off.

Jordan Mickey looked decent. His blocking out, rebounding, and taking care of the ball really stood out. His defense was much better, and he has put on a good bit of weight. He lacks a good post move on offense, and is certainly not going to beat anyone off the dribble. He puts himself in position to get easy tap in.

Ge Zhaobao is the worst player I've ever seen.

Brown is the guy I had #2 behind Simmons. I'm a huge fan. Superstar potential. Also high bust potential but if I'm in the high lottery I'm swinging for the fences. I've read/heard a few different places that Tyler Ulis is the best player there. Pulling for him big time hopefully he can make it.

scary that the Pels seem to be relying on him this year to make a positive contribution. Outside of AD and Holiday they have almost NOTHING on that roster. Bunch of replacement level players.

You have obviously never seen Reke!

Ingram had by far his best SL game last night. 22/5/4 on 9/13 shooting. He's much better off the dribble than I expected atp

everything you find on his is him stinking. he's not good.

even in this 21 point game against the jazz, these aren't good open shots. shooting with 2 guys drapped over him, shooting runners running to the left across his body, shooting 26 feet from the rim, against guys who won't make an opening day NBA roster is not good. he can't create his own shot. that's not some fricking hot take it's evident to anyone who watches 2 minutes of game film. he's not creative enough to create separation, it's the main difference between him and Jamal Murry who i don't like either, but is a much superior ball handler

This is why I at the end of the day think his best position is SG not SF. He's not the scorer / offensive player that durant is, but IMHO he's a better ball handler (comparativly speaking of course for being 18 years old), he's a NBA 2 guard ball handling wise and if he can get that shot to fall more constant will be an iso nightmare. his ability to create off the dribble is overlooked because of how tall / lanky he is but he can handle the rock

Keep in mind Draymond was viewed as a second rounder even after he graduated. And then he went in the second round.

Judging anyone by summer league performance is dumb. Plenty of players have been awful in SL and then turned out great, and then plenty of people have dominated summer league only to turn out to be d league stars.

I know it's summer league but Jaylen Brown has impressed me. He plays a lot differently than what I read about him coming out of college (I didn't watch him any in college)

I just learned this the other day but Ingram was a point guard all thru high school until he hit a massive growth spurt similar to Anthony Davis. Which would probably explain why he's so good off the dribble despite his freakish measurables

I'm fine with leaving him at the 3 with his advanced ball handling skills tho. He will be that much more of a nightmare matchup when he fills out his frame imo. Luke Walton already said he has some plays lined up with D'Lo off the ball and Ingram running the offense. I'm excited to see that

He's going to be a point forward. Just like Durant used to be

You're not watching him if you only way his shooting and fg%. His shots have been forced and bad because of how the team is, but the shooting isn't a concern. The things people said he couldn't do (rebound, on ball defense, etc) he's been doing well.
