Yes, easily. Why would the Clippers want them though?

To put this in the tangible, you're talking about Henry Giles sweepstakes. I'm not giving up Harry Giles to trade for Blake Griffin.

which makes you a moron.

An All-NBA level proven commodity for an unproven high school senior who has suffered TWO major knee injuries.

I'd take Griffin nine days out of seven.

Boston definitely needs to make some moves to compete again.

Looking forward to it.

I would easily trade for Griffin. I would rather keep one of the '17 or '18 Nets picks, preferably 18

They still have Chris Paul, Reddick and Crawford. They just signed Speights. They are a veteran team trying to make a run. Obviously they are not trading Griffin for draft picks.

I mean I think that's obvious.

Paul's gonna go play for the Knicks first chance he gets
JJ and Crawford are role players
Speights is on a minimum
Deandre's deal is tradeable

if they are offered two lottery picks for griffin (probably a three team to make the money work) they should take it. Their ship has sailed

Manu somehow leveraged the Spurs into a one year 19 million dollar contract by using an offer from the 76ers. Thats QB money in the NFL for a 39 year old

Finally paying him for being willing to come off the bench during his prime.

I could be wrong here but I believe Griffin is a UFA next summer as well. I really don't see any way Ainge parts with either Nets 17 or 18 without some sort of extension in place for either Russ or BG.

That seems to be the hold up in either trade situations. But Boston is not a place that breeds patience and the long term

Does the NBA allow teams to negotiate extensions with players before a trade is finalized? I know you can do it in the NFL but not sure about basketball

I believe that's what the Cs did with KG. Sign and trade.

Yeah but if he's a UFA next year then I think it's too late to do an "extend and trade."

No, it's illegal but still happens. Everyone just accepts that the Heat knew Dragic would resign with them before trading for him last year.

I really don't get the whole 'blow up the Clippers' thing. NBA 'analysts' are so reactionary. The Clippers are a very good team right now with a solid core. Historically, they are an awful franchise, so this is comparably a better state of affairs. They had some bad luck with injuries this season but seem poised to make a deep run this upcoming season. Of course that doesnt stop the hysterical sports writers from saying "is it time to blow up the clippers?" because Blake Griffin got in a fricking altercation with a friend. I just dont get it.

Another thing I don't get: the appeal of this highly dysfunctional franchise. The Knicks are going to overwhelm on the court once again this season, but some star player is going to be linked to them so he can go there and also participate in a mediocre soap opera.
