Do you understand the concept of tanking? Losing on purpose to secure a good draft pick?

I'm not shocked that you weren't watching the Hornets play their asses off and win games they shouldn't have

Anyone who thinks NO tanked that year has no idea what they are talking about. We traded CP3 cause we had to, and the results were as predicted. But in reality, the fans wanted them to tank and were conflicted as they watched the organization refuse to do it. Getting AD was a shock and statistical improbability.

I wanted Davis extremely bad, so I didn't mind. Minnesota pissed me off with how they kept winning games that year. I believe they were bottom 5 at some points during the season but kept winning and we only got the 10th pick out of it

So the Hornets tanked just the same as the Sixers.

What move did the organization make, that wasnt forced upon them by circumstance, that was made to make the team worse?

I think he's referencing the players on the court tanking.

The NO organization didn't try to tank.

The Philly organization tried to tank.

Daryl Watkins, Jerome Dyson, and Lance Thomas all played 40 minutes in the last game for the Hornets. But they were not tanking!

Some serious revision of history by some people in this thread

That wasn't a tank. That team just sucked.

But they played hard. God damn I loved that team, and I won't have a bunch of assholes on here dragging that team's name through the mud.

So I guess all those players on the roster that were injured hurt themselves on purpose? For the greater good of the tank?

Your team had no intention of being good that year. Give yourselves a medal because you had Jarret Jack and Carl Landry on the roster so you weren't 'tanking' but it makes no difference.

That's a different argument. I'm responding to those saying that the players played hard as if that proves they weren't tanking.

If that team was tanking, then every person involved with the tank should win a fricking medal for putting together the most well-crafted, planned, and subtle tank I've ever seen in professional sports. They fricking had me going.

Cause I watched every minute of every game that year and at no point in time did I feel like we ever tried to lose a game

You don't know what tanking is when people talk about it in the NBA.

I think y'all are confusing Demps doing a bad job at recognizing talent in his what...2nd year? of ever being a GM in the league and signing bad players on purpose.

If the players are playing hard, and the organizations is not making purposeful moves at the detriment of the team, then how did the Hornets "tank the same way philly did"

I'm talking strictly about the play on the court. Both the Sixers and the Hornets played hard.

Their on-court hustle has nothing to do with tanking.

When people talk about tanking, they are generally talking about management purposely putting a poor team on the floor who is destined to lose no matter how hard they play.

And I don't really believe there is tanking in the NBA. It's just rebuilding. Teams are going to suck while you are waiting for the young talent to develop. That's rebuilding.

Apparently you don't, because you keep talking about on-court hustle.

ok, so please point to an example of a move made by the front office of the team that year that was clearly a tanking move

Tanking is done in the front office, not on the court
