NBA ASG 1v1 Idea...

Me and a few guys were talking, and I brought up the idea of a 1v1 tournament during All Star weekend. What would be some of the match ups you'd like to see? Also we talked about a format of 2 brackets: one with G/F and F/C. I think it would be awesome to see some of these match ups with the PGs in the league. A Kyrie/Russ would be awesome. Boogie would be awesome in the Big man bracket. AD vs. Greek Freak would be fantastic as well.

Sounds awesome until Harden beats Lebron and it starts the "Harden is better than Lebron" or other similar type of hot takes that it would inevitably generate

Kyrie would crush. One of my dark horses for it though is Jamaal Crawford. That dude is literally made for street ball/1v1 stuff. He doesn't give AF

I think a cool idea to replace the ASG would be the following:
3v3 tournament. Half court games to 21, win by 2. 8 teams of 3, so 24 players. Can keep the fan vote so that they can be involved still - top 24 vote getters go. Top 8 overall vote getters are captains and pick their teams.

No... it was just an idea I brought up. And I think the exact opposite. These dudes would go so hard with so much pride on the line. The competitive edge eventually takes over and people could get hurt l lol

It'd go D the guy up, arms out, get in his grill, guy with ball does something, guy on D half asses an attempt at a steal or swipe or block, guy on offense makes nice layup, they smile and high five.

This would be a steady helping of step back jumpers and long post ups. Wouldn't be nearly as exciting as people think.

Back in the day, when the NBA was on CBS, there were H-O-R-S-E competitions, Big man vs. Little man, and, I believe 2-on-2. They would film them in the summer, and run them at halftime of games on Sunday. Maravich was awesome at H-O-R-S-E.
