Just beat Pikeville University 84-80 on OT.

They get a day off and will play Monday night. They are now 34-0.

Tough win! Pikeville was probably one of the toughest teams they have faced all season. On to the Fabulous Four!

To Pikeville's credit, they were a good team. The only disappointment was the number of fouls called on both teams. Refs called it tight. That said, though, a damned good game that just may be what LSUA needed in terms of realizing how close they came to going home. Free throws and defense definitely won the game. A couple of crazy turnovers for both teams. Definitely a class coach on the Pikeville bench.

I don't know anything at all about him or the team but I love seeing area teams do well and I went to school there for a year.

How are they so good so fast? Are they made up of local players? I know this area is full of talent. I assume they are getting the players from Peabody and other schools that didn't go DI.

And do they give athletic scholarships?

I just looked their roster up. They are bigger than LSU! They have some hosses on that team.

They started the prorgan with guys that transferred from other state schools that weren't getting playing time. Quickly recruits started showing interest and they now get them from Slidell and other towns outside Alexandria.

Their first PG was a former Mr. Louisiana from Peabody that wasn't getting time at Arkansas. Their 6'10" center Talbot his year is a LA Tech transfer. Coach Larry is a great recruiter and motivator as well as a genuinely good guy. No way he stays here long, especially if they can win it all this year.

Thanks for the info. Always been talent in CenLA. Lots of good small school players that get overlooked. They should always be able to find talent.

Should be a lot easier to get talent and win there than it is for LC. I'll have to try and catch a game next year.

But sounds like this coach is doing a great job recruiting with the transfers.
