This is so true and it still hurts lol
I saw a rumor this morning where the Stars could potential trade for Perry. Theyre gonna be pretty active with Morrow being on the block.

Of course it's impossible to know the future. But you're working from the "if they don't trade Perry for pennies on the dollars, they are going to stink". And that's just a Pens fan trying to sell the Ducks on the hopelessness of their situation. The Ducks are in great shape, as a franchise, even if Perry doesn't sign. Now, they have to actually build something, but having tons of cap room and a good farm system plus one of the best players in hockey is a nice place to start.

Yeah, Perry rumors are all over the place today after the Getzlaf deal, teams know Perry is prime for the taking right now with the right offer.
Seen Pens, Leafs, and Stars so far with the Leafs really interested.

The Mavs analogy was moreso for the year of the run. They completely max out with 1 year deals after going and getting Marion, Chandler, and Caron Butler. Then after the title, they let Chandler, Barea, Terry, Butler, and Brewer go. Now they have cap space to spare, and are just looking for the right parts to fit back into the system. The only thing that makes it a horrible situation is the age of their superstar.
