most improved team should get the most consideration when choosing the MVP, so i wouldnt say it has nothing to do with improved teams
Anthony Davis was on the Pelicans last year. His stats aren't vastly different from the year before. They improved because they were healthier.

Most improved NBA teams with a shite head coach with a stud player is what I've gathered so far. What else am I mising?

This is a really weird troll thread.

You'll think of something else.

His stats are increased across the board.
Healthier? You serious? They've been cripples by injuries this year as well.
I love Davis, but it's not his award to win this year. Curry and Harden have played exceptionally well, I'd actually give it to Harden over curry

It'll be:
Curry
Harden
James
Paul
Westbrook
Davis
whom cares after the first 6?

Given the OP, the Cavs and the Pelicans.

He's looking for an MVP candidate on the most improved team. Weird criteria
Yeah, but lots of people use this kind of thinking to judge MVP candidates. The two criterion aren't exclusive.

1. Harden is a ball hog with a low shooting percentage; and the rockets will probably be out in the first round again
Somewhat agree with the first part. Agree with the second part.

2. The Thunder are about to be eliminated from the playoffs
Yeah, but look at all their injuries.

3. The Warriors havent improved much.
wut
They're having one of the best regular seasons ever.

I'm a pels fan and I think this thread is garbage

His stats are increased across the board.
Healthier? You serious? They've been cripples by injuries this year as well.
The main reason is that they are healthier than last year, even though they were banged up this year. There are more solid players who can fill in with this year's injuries than last year. The team didn't have Asik, Pondexter, or Cunningham last year.
Per 36, Davis is averaging 3 more points with 24.3 up from 21.3, the same number of blocks, the same number of steals, the same number of rebounds, the same free throw percentage, 0.6 more assists, etc.
The only real difference is that he's averaging 3 more ppg due to a little bit better FG% at .537 up from .519, and he's taking 2 more shots per game.
The reasons the Pelicans have a better record than last year have more to do with:
1. Asik is playing at center. That means much less of Anthony Davis or Ryan Anderson at center playing out of position.
2. Ryan Anderson has played 60 games compared to 22 last year. He hasn't been as good, but he can still score points, he's playing more at his natural position, and he's better than the alternatives at back-up PF they were playing with last year.
3. Pondexter and Cunningham are better bench players than what the team had last year.
4. Anjinca is a better player this year than he was last year.
5. Eric Gordon seems to be a better player than he was last year.
6. Last year, a lot of guys were out all at the same time which caused the team to lose a LOT of games in chunks. This year, the injuries seem to be more spread out, so the team can overcome some of the missed time.

This feels like an AL HORFORD for MVP thread to me

It's a shame that LeBron is a victim of voter fatigue and Chris Paul...well, I don't know why Chris Paul isn't getting any love. He's better defensively and leads the NBA in assists.
If I were voting on the MVP:
1. LeBron James
2. Anthony Davis
3. Chris Paul
4. James Harden
5. Steph Curry

LeBron's team has a worse record than 7 NBA teams. Hardly voter fatigue.

And that would be the last year you'd be allowed to vote.
