MMA/UFC fans: What were your peak viewing/interest years?

2006-2010 for me.
I liked Gracie, Silva, Hughes, Evans, Couture, Lidell, GSP, Machida.
That 4 year stretch was strong and captivating for me.
I no longer have the interest that I once had.

First few seasons of Ultimate Fighter.

Hendo decked the Englishman. UFC got into a weird ground dry humping stage after that.

I liked it better when it was called gladiator and they fought to the death

Original years 1998'ish and 2006-2010.

I prefer the fighting now to 2006ish. The grapplers tended to put the fight on the mat for 15-25 minutes and it resulted in some boring fights.
I think a much smaller percentage of fights now are hugging contests and seem to be more on their feet.

The best time for me is towards the end of PRIDE
so many superstars in both organizations. Just a great time for MMA

I got into it around 2008 or so. Kind of stopped watching around 2014. Don't know why. Just kind of lost interest.

Because of over saturation of the market. Same reason a lot of us long time followers have lost interest.
Too many cards with too many fighters no one cares about

Yeah good point about original years

2008 until Forrest Griffin took a dive.

2007-2010...once the original greats like Hughes, Couture, Penn, Liddell, etc started fading, I lost interest.
Plus, it went from fighting to a bunch of dudes trying to see who could lay on their opponent the longest and win (Thanks GSP).

Probably 4 years ago when we started getting a UFC every 3-6 weeks. Complete over saturation and I lost interest.

Which fight are you referring to?

I used to watch ufc back in the day with gracie, shamrock, abbot. I liked it back then. I started watching again a few years back and still enjoy it.
My thought is that they have to have lots of events to build up fighters. I think overall the quality of fighting is much better now and the depth on the roster is at an all time high, with the exception of hw and lhw.

I don't really watch it anymore.

I really enjoyed the WEC fights back before UFC took them in.
It was on free TV, and the little guys like Fabre, Mike Brown, etc. had some damn good fights.

UFC 1,2,3 (these were amazing). Lost interest due to military obligations. Got back in it around UF2, losing interest just now again. Still watch it with the better cards. Can't stand any of the Brazilian cards.
