Not bad for a “dying sport”.

I was thinking about this over the weekend while watching 2 hours of commercials with some football in between.

Baseball is a more enjoyable watch than football now.

Wait til the playoff TV ratings come in and they are the lowest in years.

I genuinly forgot MLB was even still around. It is a totally and completely dead sport nationally.

Without looking, is it closer to a return to the norm after a substantial reduction in attendance, hence the “spike”?

The ratings may be down without the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs and Cardinals. But the Braves and Dodgers will draw some eyeballs.

And, in reality, if your team is in it, do you care who else is watching?

You frequent this board and claim that you forgot MLB was still around? I find that impossible to believe.

Baseball is not, in fact, dead...

I love the game and love to read this news, but as a traditionalist, I still disagree with every new rule implemented this year - each one.

In fact, I am a proponent of eliminating the universal DH in both leagues and making pitchers hit.

Make Baseball Great Again

Edited to add: Apologies...I misstated my position. I am in favor of banning the shift, because the way it's been employed the last several years is not in the spirit of the game.

What a weird thing to feel threatened by enough that you felt obligated to post this.

Baseball is only dying if you consider national broadcast TV ratings

Local TV ratings are goos and most ballparks are full outside the usual suspects

Not even a baseball fan and I love the pitching clock.

Let them use metal bats to erase all the records from the steroid era and I outright will become a fan.

At some point tradition becomes a noose around your neck.

Pitch clock is great. No pitchers hitting is great. Tradition is great too, but some things just need to be changed to keep up with the present.

Metal bats would wipe Barry and Mark out the record books and make games more fun.

It would just be 2019 all over again with the juiced balls and three true outcomes... which is what led to these recent changes.

So no, the games would not be more fun.

Cutting the time for games helped a LOT.

I watched more baseball this season than the last 5 combined.
