I want Texas. Texas is huge and would bring more money.
thats great and all if you are a bigger fan of your conference than your team

ii think the conference is already about as difficult as i would like it to be

Actually the scheduling would work perfect for a 16 team conference with four sub divisions. Here is how it would work:

1) Play each team in your subdivision (3 games)
2) Play another subdivision on a rotating schedule (4 games)
3) Play one game against the other subdivision you haven't played based on how you finished in your subdivision. For example: the four number 1 teams would play eachother in like a semi-final game and the the number 2 teams would play each other and so on and so forth. (1 game)

This gives each team 8 conference games. The winners of the number 1 teams from the two subdivision semifinals would then go on to play each other in a championship game. This would be a true conference champ too.

fair enough, but if the Big10 goes to 16 and starts bringing in tons more money why wouldn't you want the SEC to keep up?

Bringing in teams like Texas and OU would make it less like CFB and more like the NFL...which means even the top few teams would come out of the conference with 2-3 losses at least, and that downplays the significance of every game.

then do what the big 10 does and dont add any powerhouses but just mediocre to good teams with moderate to great fan bases

won't work

NCAA presently only grants conferences with at least 12 teams a single exempt conference championship game

To do your subdivision semifinals option all 12 teams would have to play only 11 games instead of 12 games in the regular season. Seeing as that would probably mean every team gives up a multimillion dollar cupcake payday at home? That's a non-starter for a proposal

Without Nebraska to bolster the Big12 North, and with Colorado likely headed to the Pac10, I see the Big12 potentially dissolving.

The Pac10 will add Colorado and Utah, and maybe others like SDSU.

IF this is the case, I think the SEC needs to be pro-active and offer Texas and aTm, at the very least.

Oh, and nobody wants BYU. frick BYU.

My understanding that Rutgers' invite is contingent upon ND saying no. If ND accepts then Rutgers wouldn't be invited. They're the back up plan.

wrong. read the article. rutgers is in no matter what. if nd says no, they stay at 14. if nd says yes, they look for a 16th team. ru and the nyc market are pretty much guaranteed.

ive got got my fingers crossed that this happens, all rutgers fans do. the big east bowl line up blows.

Yes it would. The game before the championship game would be a quasi semifinal.

I will explain again.

The final week of the "Regular Season" would pit the four #1 teams against eachother, the four #2 place teams against eachother, the four #3 place teams against eachother, and the four #4 place teams against eachother. It would be a part of the schedule and would be the 12th regular season game.

I can't believe it, because I love this type of stuff, but I'm starting to get tired of this conference realignment stuff. When they actually do it, then I'll believe it. I will say, though, Mizzou, Nebraska, and ND (or Rutgers) would vault the Big 10 into at worst 2nd best conference status.

Louisiana and Louisiana Tech will save the day.

I'm sure this is what the SEC will do (and hopefully GT will get to come back home), but the money Texas is worth is just so great it would really bolster the SEC. The deal they just made with ESPN would look like chump change when they restructure

The big rumor bumping around Austin is that, if the Big 10 goes to 16, the PAC 10 becomes the PAC 16 by adding Texas, Texas A&M, Colorado, BYU, Utah and Boise State.
