It could happen. IMO the SEC would do better to take FSU and Miami than OU and OSU (because of dominating both Florida and Texas in recruiting) but certainly it could happen

the sec can't just pluck out four of the best programs from the big 12.

I posted in a thread the other day on SEC Rant that from the logistics standpoint of the fan that would be insane.

The great thing about the SEC right now is that you can get to any of the campuses within a pretty easy day's drive. Even from the fan populations in Florida/South Carolina it isn't a huge deal to get even to BR or Arky, with Fayetteville being the most difficult. If you add in Austin, College Station, Stillwater and Norman, that is a hell of a drive even from Alabama/Mississippi.

Not like I'm saying it will but Texas, Texas A&M, OU, and OSU to the SEC was a possibility speculated on in SI a week or two ago

Baton Rouge is already pretty far from the rest of the SEC, and I agree that Austin is a long drive from Gainesville.

If Colorado joins the Pac10 it's 1300 miles from Boulder to Seattle. Only 1000 from Gainesville to Austin

I completely agree... unless teh conference would have 3 from a state named California, Texas, or Florida

Think about it the other way... FSU would have a competitive advantage over Miami and Florida if they didn't join... they would be a name school able to attract recruits but not have to navigate the same level of difficulty in schedule. If the SEC locks down Florida and has the two name schools from Texas? They dominate recruiting even more than they already do

Yeah the distance factor isn't as big an issue as some people make it out to be. At a certain point you have to fly no matter what

Tucson to Seattle is far as frick and hasn't been an issue at all

Newark Paper yesterday had Ritgers, Pitt, Nebraska, Mizzou and Syr to Big Ten
Fla St, Clemson, Ga Tech and Miami to the SEC

TCU, Houston, BYU, Utah and Tulsa to Big 12 (I don't rememeber all of them and just threw out the paper)

ACC renamed great Atlantic and adds Temple, East Carolina, Central Fla, South Fla, Cincinnati, Louisville and UConn

Seton to join Atlantic 10 for basketball

ND, St. Homs and Georgetown basketball only for Great Atlantic

Colorado, SD State, Fresno St and Boise to Pac 10

I want Texas. Texas is huge and would bring more money. Getting FSU or Miami isn't as big a deal to me

If fricking LaTech can fly their shite sports to Hawaii, I'm sure Florida could figure out how to get to Austin, TX

I think scheduling for a 16 team conference would be a bit of a headache too.

Assuming 2 8 team divisions, would you have teams still playing 8 conference games, and would these be the 7 in your division and 1 cross? Would you bump up to playing 10 conference games, 7/3 say, and then have your only OOC games be creampuffs for homecoming and one other? Would you adjust the schedule so that you don't play everyone in your division?

Play 7 conference games, all against your division. CG would never have a rematch
