I've been black for 25 years, why would he wanna claim he's white. We got white women tryna pose she's black (Rachael Dolezeal). Being black ain't that bad.

There was some PBS show awhile back where some white Germans had a black baby...and of course the husband accused the wife of infidelity but they did family research and there was a black man back in their history...and suddenly his code popped back up.

Sounds like this depended on how he was raised and how he self-identified himself.
CNN (4 or so years ago) had a segment on how people of mixed races self identified themselves.

Well his mother is white so he's at least mixed.. So if he's mixed what's wrong if he doesn't want to be labeled black. Perhaps he is proud of who is is, and part of that is white, part of it is black as well.
I don't see him saying call me white. He's simply saying don't call me black. It's not that he's ashamed of being black, he probably finds it disrespectful that his white heritage is being completely left out when people just refer to him as black.
