It's still a certain level of tattle tailing, though.

The Yankees will retaliate, whether it's by hitting someone, or by making the umpire check Buchholz the next time he pitches.

Do you think Pineda made it too obvious? Or did Farrell overreact?

I think it all went how it should have. Farrell knows his guys use something so if it wasn't blatantly obvious, there's no way he would've said anything.

I wanted Girardi to go out and ask to check Lackey to show support for Pineda and to rattle John Lackey

Me too.

Lackey rattles easily and was in such a rhythm. Plus, he probably was using something.

If grip is such a necessary thing, how come there isn't a players union movement to change the balls? I'm a little confused if it's such a necessary evil as a pitcher and the balls in certain fields make it such a hazard.

I don't know, maybe because this only becomes an issue because it gets made into one. There's typically what, one incident a year if that? Million other things to focus on I guess.

would be shocked if Girardi did anything like this going forward, against the Red Sox or anyone else.

He knows Pineda was too obvious. Suck it up this time and then leave it alone.

I'd imagine most major league pitchers aren't as stupid as Pineda.

Also, you have to imagine there was a conversation between him and McCann or the pitching coach or someone where the recommendation was made to use the pine tar.

How the actual frick does the Yankee dugout let him walk out there like that, knowing that the Sox might be on high alert because of the last time he faced them (and also he used it in his first start at Toronto)?

Just seems like this should have been prevented.

he was really, really mad after. Not sure if it was directed at the Red Sox, Pineda's stupidity, or just the entire scenario.

I would have to imagine it was with Pineda. That forces him to burn the hell out of his bullpen, possibly force a roster move and maybe cost them the game. Shitty trio plus he now has to deal with the questions/possible suspension.

Id like to see the yankees throw at papi tomorrow. I think the rivalry needs some fight back in it, and it might help us get back on track since we look like we are in a championship hangover.

I doubt they do though because we drilled arod last year and they didn't do shite about it.

I threw a side after Joel Peralta one day. Please nobody bust my balls for a "brag post," I stunk it up. Anyways, I'm waiting and it sounds like someone ripping Velcro every time he threw the ball. I got on the mound and spiked my first pitch. shite was so sticky I could literally stick the ball on my palm face down without it falling.

The Nats called him on it mid game after he left for St. Pete. Still think that was a bitch move.

I have no idea how y'all throw those things. I don't mind the laces but damn, it's like they roll the balls in flour or something.
