Two weeks ago, Westbrook was in Las Vegas with Jordan Brand for the introduction of the Air Jordan XXX1. Total disclosure, I was there too, as DJ Clark Kent and I would host a live Quickstrike episode around the shoe, where we would interview designer Tate Kuerbis and Westbrook. Beforehand, we all gathered in a makeshift green room off to the side of the Brooklyn Bowl stage, as Jordan Brand president Larry Miller greeted the viewers and introduced a short film.

The film, which included clips of Kuerbis and Westbrook and even Michael Jordan himself discussing the new shoe, also focused plenty on Westbrook, who will be the shoe’s primary endorser. Westbrook, who’d never seen it before, knelt on the couch facing backwards, poking his head out from the curtains to watch his own highlight-reel clips on the big screen. Then they cut back to Jordan. "Thirty years ago, that's me," he said of Westbrook. "The attitude, trying to prove myself, showing so much passion for the game of basketball. You see it in his play. You can tell he loves the game, he plays with energy and flair."

Meh. Praise from an egoist looking to promote his brand.

But I do respect Westbrook more for staying in OKC.

Imagine Jordan in this era where there is so much freedom to take so many shots so early in the shot clock.

Imagine Jordan in this era where everyone would realize what a prick he really was.

Dude was the best, but his legacy would be much, much different.

Everyone reminds Jordan of himself, except for LeBron. . .the guy who is the greatest player to lace up shoes since him. . .

Dude straight up hates him some LeBron

Westbrook is also a hundred times the man that Jordan is. I can guarantee you that Jordan wasn't remaining faithful to his wife or attending the sporting events of staffers' children.

How would you know that? Do you know Westbrook and Jordan personally?

Just asking Sabi. I always find it amusing when people act like they know athletes personally.

At a bare minimum he would have been covered much differently. Not sure how that would have affected his on-court play, but he effectively got a pass his entire career. That sort of stuff can shape your legacy.

he didn't just get a pass

he was actively protected and his image was created/proliferated by the media over time

A pass for what? Help me understand why the MSB feels this way. So he was a jerk to his teammates, and liked to gamble outside of the basketball court (oh the horror) What else? Do you guys know something that the rest of us do not?
