Has anyone here played Medinah? If so give me your honest opinion if it is worth playing. Heading up to the game and I am able to get on here with my group but they want:

$500 per player plus $200 asst pro fee to play along and guide you through the course.

seems ridiculous but it is considered a all time great

YOLO

Y'all will probably be better than the US Ryder Cup team on Sunday in 2012

My cousin just played it. Said it was awesome. Club house is amazing. First few holes aren't that bad, then the course get extremely hard. They have hosted a US Open, PGA Championship (1999, Sergio's blind shot and jump moment), and a Ryder Cup. They have display areas (mini museums if you will ) that describe each championship. They discourage photos on the course and in the club house, but a few here and there probably is ok. Have fun!!

we are playing Straits course and Erin Hills as well so I am trying to budget appropriately. I also have a time at Cog Hill and we are working on Butler National.

All of those courses are considerably less to play except Straits course. You do only live once but damn $700 bucks to play a course seems highly offensive.

$200 each for the forecaddie is beyond ridiculous. And the $500 green fee is in the Pebble territory. If it was me, I would pass.

Course is legit....but for a $500 green fee? Has a ton of history with PGA, US Opens, Ryder Cups...the club house is incredible. You know a Shriner who is a member?

You'll like Dubs at Cog Hill. I know the USGA is trying to put the Open there...but the owner of the facilities does not want the massive changes to the course.

And Butler National is one of the nicest in the area.

I would skip it. Medinah is a fine course with a lot of history, but a lot of people consider it overrated and kind of bland. That's a steep price to pay.

I'm heading to Seattle tomorrow. Is Chambers Bay worth a ride over? Bringing the sticks with me.

I was able to play chambers bay for less than $100 super twilight several years ago. It was a great experience and well worth it. My guess is the greens are back in shape. They let things get way too out of control in the US open last summer.

I've walked medinah and its a legit course with great history though not sure I'd drop 700 for it. Dubs at cog is awesome and worth the price. Whistling Straights is one of the best courses I've played and worth the price they charge. Would like to play Erin but never have. A buddy played and says its comparable to straights and is great.

My pro at my club is getting us on and I don't know any members. Probably why they are charging the $200/person assistant pro price.

Played Chambers Bay whack back in 09 when we played UW. Thought it was fun, fair track. Would recommend playing it.
