I know people always take QBs high but geez the risk on them failing would just drive me nuts if I were a general manager. Rightly or wrongly I have the sense an offensive tackle or speed rusher is easier to grade out and project at the next level.

Maybe so, but it is also a very deep QB class as well.

Well if youre a coach of cleveland, you have to hang onto your job like a hog wrangler, the best way to do that is to sign your name to a highly drafted QB, which usually gives you 2-3 more years than you probably deserve

Raiders drafted quite well last year.

His work ethic is college related and mostly all comes from this year in which he played it safe to not get injured.

I don't think his work ethic is scary at all in the NFL.

Theres not that much risk in taking a qb high anymore. The money is nothing. If i were Jacksonville or someone else in a state of perpetual terribleness i would just take a QB as a high pick every damn year. One of them is bound to pan out and its not gonna cost much to get rid of the shitty ones or have multiple qbs with that type of contract

Just can't see Manziel going that high. He's a high risk/reward guy and I'd like to hear how he does at pro days and the combine.

Maybe. Theres no way of knowing that. And its still not a good look that a guy can loaf like that. Id rather a guy that would put his body on the line in front of his team instead of using that excuse not to play hard. I would be very worried about it

I want to completely agree with you but i once saw Tim Tebow go in the first round of the draft, so ill never say never when it comes to QBs. I personally wouldnt draft him that high and will personally laugh when he falls flat on his face in Jacksonville or Cleveland

Agree, if STL stays at that spot they're going with matthews. I don't think they'll sit there though. There's a lot of desperate teams missing that pass rusher or QB.

Clowney has bust potential, but I still think his bad season was due to lack of effort after watching his own teammate's draft stock get destroyed due to injury.

Meh, before the season he was considering sitting out.

Don't really blame him one bit.

what about Anthony Barr?

if I'm picking in the Top 5, I like him more than some of those QB's.

Yeah another mock I saw, I believe CBS, has Barr going #5 to the Raiders.

I know nothing about Barr, scouts love him, but I watched zero UCLA football this year.

Thats what we call a red flag

He gonna sit out the final year of his rookie contract so he doesnt get hurt and mess up his contract value on the market?

I don't think any NFL GM cares about Clowney playing it safe in College to avoid injury.

Really just don't.

Being smart is not a fault.

seems like a playmaker.

watched him play vs. Oregon, thought he made his presence known.

might not be a stout run defender but as far as pass rushing ability, yeah sure, sign me up as a fan.

No he wouldn't, Texans wouldn't take him if he was full beast mode all year this season.

Most of the Top 5 need QB's not DE's.

If he went hard this year someone would be trading up for him. Jake mattews certainly wouldnt be projected to go ahead of him (i realize these projections are a farce but its all we got right now)

I think you'll be surprised as the draft gets closer.
