He hopped off of his pivot foot to the other foot when he shot it.

If both of his feet were on the ground, he would be allowed to jump off of his non-pivot foot.

He did a little hop almost from his pivot foot to his right foot.

But it's such a slight travel that it's hard to even tell when you keep watching the loop over and over.

That isnt how I see it. I see him plant his right with his left on the ground, and then his left comes up. But yes, if he did "hop" then he traveled

he shot off his right foot which wasnt his pivot. had he jumped with both feet he would have been fine. but his left(pivot) came off the ground a little before the right did. in essence he switched his pivot foot (what msutiger said earlier). but its super close to being fine. i have zero issues with the no-call and that's not because im a griz fan.

I just stared at it though and I honestly see zero hop

I can't even tell anymore. I've watched the loop too many times. It looked like he slightly traveled at first glance.

That is legal. If my left foot is my pivot foot, I can keep it on the ground, then lunge and jump of my right foot and it isnt a travel

You can most definitely jump off your non pivot foot

"Having established a pivot foot, you may, within defined limits, pivot, shoot, pass or dribble. To pivot, you may step with the non-pivot foot in any direction, provided the ball of the pivot foot remains in contact with the court and does not move laterally.

You may raise your pivot foot to shoot or pass, provided the ball leaves your hands before the pivot foot returns to the court."

100% your pivot foot can come off the ground while your non pivot doesnt

Primetimes "hop" argument would be a travel though

Well, you really can jump off of your non-pivot foot. Just think of a basic spin move into a lay-up.

You would pivot on one foot as you are spinning and plant and jump off the other foot and lay it up.

And you can also plant your other foot and jump off of two feet:

Exactly. The only potential travel is the "hop" you mentioned, which I dont think happened

Yes it does. 100% you can lift your pivot foot with your non-pivot foot still on the court. It is how every player pivots into a layup or dunk

again Gasol is not laying the ball up. Layup rules are exceptions. Everyone knows that.

When a big man post up and pivots under the goal, he jumps off his non-pivot foot. You dont have to jump off both feet

Lay-up rules are no different. You can do the same thing from anywhere on the court, except instead of laying it up you shoot it.
