Would be my team too actually. Lebron is just now getting past Bird in my mind though, and it is still really close.

I love shaq but he is nto the best center. Hakeem was a better defender and scorer than shaq in his prime.
Shaq would be 3rd or 4th team. Love the guy and he is an ambassador for LSU but not first team.

I get 12 players right?
Magic, Jordan, Bird, Lebron, Duncan, Wilt, Shaq, Oscar, Malone, Kobe, Stockton, and Durant.

So why not just say the 12 best players? Or is it supposed to be a team which is way more fun

This is not who I think is the best 12 players, but who would make up my 12 man roster and why.
Starters
C Shaq – You can make an argument for Wilt, Russell, Kareem, or Hakeem, but Shaq in his prime had the best combination of size, athleticism, skill, and mean streak of any center to ever play.
F – Hakeem – He played C his entire career, but the Dream would be next to Shaq on my team. The new trend in the NBA is to have a stretch 4, but most teams do that because of the lack of dominant big men. Hakeem is the perfect complement to Shaq on the block. They would be unstoppable.
F – Larry Bird – People who think Bird was just a 3 point shooter really don’t know much about his game. He is easily one of the best passing forwards of all time. His all-around play along with his ridiculously high basketball IQ put him in my starting 5.
G – Michael Jordan – Greatest to ever do it – enough said.
G – Magic Johnson – Probably the second greatest player of all time, right behind MJ. Super competitive, had swag, and was a great teammate.
Bench
C – Kareem – An elite scorer who dominated his opponent. The sky hook was unstoppable.
C/F – Bill Russell – While Wilt is regarded by some as the best center ever; I will take the ultimate winner who owned him for a decade. Russell is more of a PF on this team and would be brought in as a defensive stopper.
F – Tim Duncan – Best PF ever. Great teammate and low maintenance.
F - Lebron James – A hybrid of Magic and Michael. He’s an athletic freak with a great basketball IQ, and he’s becoming a winner. He may eventually replace Bird in my starting 5 but for now he’s coming off of my bench.
F – Scottie Pippen – Scottie is not one of the best 12 players ever, but he is the perfect glue guy. He could handle the ball, provide energy off the bench, and lock down your opponents best perimeter player.
G – Kobe Bryant – Probably my 6 th man. I think Kobe is a fringe top 12 player, but he would be instant offense off of the bench.
G – Jason Kidd - This was my most difficult decision, but I went with Kidd. In his prime he was the best passer in the league on the break and he developed into one of the league’s best three point threats, not to mention that he filled up the stat sheet. Stockton, Robertson, and Payton are probably better players, but Kidd is the better fit on this team.
Next 5 in - John Stockton, Wilt, Robertson, West, Dr J

Because he was never THAT great in the NBA. Hall of Famer, sure, but I would pick a dozen players over him.
