Funny considering Tulane has packed their stadium for their home games this year while ULL's fans have dressed as empty seats for theirs.

ORly?

Tulane 3 home games: 79,434 total attendance 26,478 per game

Cajuns 3 home games: 86,593 total attendance 28,864 per game.

FWIW that picture is from sometime prior to 2008. But I can cite old examples of poor attendance for shitty teams too

Couldn't find any crowd shots from the Georgia State game, wasn't exactly a great crowd at that one. Best I could find (unless 2 weeks ago is too old)

Cajun's have always fudged the numbers a bit. This picture is from the La Tech game, which has more bodies in seats than any other Cajun game this year. No way there are 28,000 people in that stadium

Actually there were around 40k for their opener against Southern, so for their other two games attendance has been pretty weak

Main reason to play Southern us that they bring HUGE crowds wherever they go. More in-state schools should try to play them. Easy win and big $$$$

You're right. Because announced attendance was 25,600 and that picture was taken during pre-game.

Forgot about the Southern game which does inflate numbers severely.

if you guys hadnt played southern you would have less atendance than tulane. now why exactly are you wasting money to expand tapout field at affliction park?

If my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle. If Tulane hadn't opened a brand new stadium their first home game, they'd have less attendance than us even when you take out the Southern game. See how that works?

Tech has it's attendance issues, our fanbase is very inconsistent but I can't understand why uLL would opt to expand their stadium when they couldnt fill it prior to the endzone addition. I was down for the Tech ULL game & was very surprised that Cajun Field wasn't close to being full, especially after all the Cajun trash talk.....that was supposed to be their "coming out party" & their 1st year of football dominance.

I've wondered that myself. I applaud Tulane for building their stadium the way they did. The size fits the crowds they have now. I never understood expanding for the sake of expanding.

The Cajuns have had some very impressive crowds at Cajun Field and I'll give them credit for that, but never the consistency game after game that warranted a seating expansion. I would have gone with more upgrades over expansions.

Though its been posted here a ton:

quote:

The new Cajun Field seating will provide several thousand more seats in the facility, which will be needed to allow for the Tier 2 construction without losing the use of Cajun Field or playing with a diminished capacity for a season.

quote:

Tier 2 is what Farmer called the “meat” of the master plan, and includes an eight-story, 23,000-square-foot structure behind the current west side of Cajun Field to house athletic administration offices as well as providing the structure with 1,200 club-level seats, 128 loge seats, 37 box suites and a new press box facility. The plan also includes renovation or reconstruction of the upper west side to accommodate the new box structure.

Bowling in the endzone was done in "Tier 1" because in "Tier 2" the west upperdeck will be renovated or demolished. Bowling in the endzone offsets the loss of that seating.

The west upper deck will be smaller as well after the renovations with suites and pressboxes added

Ultimately it's a camera tower. It was supposed to dressed up in away that didn't make it look like a re purposed piece of oilfield equipment but of course they put it up and didn't finish it.

Yeah, they're supposed to add a bell and facade to it. I guess that won't happen until after the season at this point.

The structure was added just a couple of days before southern game

After reading what they are doing to the field, I would suppose that is probably on the low end of the list. Stadium should look nice once it is completed
