LSU probably wasn't invited to the NIT.

Tech because they were holding out for something better that never came.

Right. I'm even dumber for it. Moreso than I suppose I already was.

LSU wasn't gaining anything by playing again.

Players probably would have liked to keep playing basketball and a trip to New York instead of sitting in their dorm room wondering whether to go to class.

I thought Louisiana Tech just declined one particular bowl and then no other bowl selected them?

Lt thought they were holding out for a better bowl.

LSU just wants this season to end after one of the most embarrassing losses in their history.

You decide.

Louisiana Tech by far, they only declined because they thought a better bowl game was on the horizon and nobody else called.

Ben Simmons handlers weren't going to let him play in the NIT. How does LSU explain that he isn't available for the NIT. They got invited, if they didn't, we would know.

#1 player in the nation and ranked in the preseason only to fall and not go to any tournament.

Probably La Tech because they were leveraging for a bigger bowl. LSU probably turned down whichever tournament because Simmons wouldn't play.

Tech thought they deserved a better bowl. LSU knew they didn't deserve a postseason bid. One was arrogance, the other was humility.

Fwiw nobody outside of Louisiana knows about the la tech bowl blunder.

The lsu thing is a national story, albeit not a very big one.
