pretty sure it's not the Caucasian coonass that's bolstering LA's athletic prowess.

Louisiana also has the most people in prison per capita and the worst roads in the nation, but at least we aren't Mississippi....

Who do you think used to cut the sugar cane baw?
Posted on 2/24/17 at 6:25 am to LSUballs
I'd assume Nola/SLA plantations were more involved in cane than cotton

Yes but Sugar cane got kicked of in Louisiana in the 1,800s. Slaves had been being brought over en masse for a couple hundred years before then....mainly to pick cotton. Were African Americans used to cut cane? Sure. But that is not why they were brought here. That was my point.

Neaux. First of all a lot of the slaves on the sugar plantations came from St. Domaigne where thy had been on sugar plantations since the 1600s. Second of all, cotton didn't really become viable as a cash crop until the cotton gin came about in the 1790s so your 1800s argument is moot. Sugar plantations in south Louisiana and cotton plantations in north Louisiana both tell the tale my friend.

Ok. The reason the SE United States has an influx of athletes is because of slaves brought over to harvest Sugar Cane. That's hilarious.

Are you stupid? We are not talking about the southeast, we are talking about Louisiana.

Apparently. I'm arguing on the internet at 6:50 am on a Friday with someone who thinks slaves were brought over here to predominantly harvest Sugar Cane. Have a nice day

They barely even grew cotton in south Louisiana. Drink some coffee.
