When did they start implementing these safety concerns that are ruining the game?

It'll be fine.

Sure you can predict the future as well as I can

However my prediction is based on changes to the game already happening and will continue to happen.

It should have been outlawed 100 years ago when players were literally dying in football games.

You know the answer same as I do

But not until recently have the long term damage of playing been better understood as the article in the OP said. That is if you read it.

Thank you for bringing that fresh information to the MSB.

Football will be gone in 15 years. At a minimum, it will be radically different from what it is today.

Sad. But likely true

People do all kind of shite that is bad for their health. This is a god damn free country and football is fun. No one is forcing people to play.

They've been trying to make football safer since the beginning.

Ok. When did they start "irreparably changing a great game"?

Why does football have to be dangerous to be enjoyable?

I like the game. It's a physical game without the helmet-to-helmet contact. It's physical enough without blows to the head.

That's all there is to it. It's about protecting human beings from long term brain damage.

It's also about protecting quarterbacks from any damage. While some may dislike that part of it, I guarantee you would hate football more if your team suddenly sucked because the most important player went down to a leg injury after a hit that was avoidable.

Only on TD.com could adapting the game to protect people from life altering brain damage be seen as "pussified"

No. It is pussified. We know the risks now. Great. Now make people aware of the risks and if you don't want to play you don't have to. It's simple.

The big hit penalties are ruining the game.. So I guess a few years ago.

When they started changing the way the players play in hopes of decreasing injury.

That's a slippery slope with the ultimate goal being to decrease injury all together. Which would mean the end of football as we know it

I'm asking for a year.

The point I'm trying to make is that they've been changing the game in an attempt to make it safer for a while now, and the NFL is still far and away the most popular sport in the US.

Will it potentially lessen in popularity? Sure. But to go all the way to "it will be outlawed" is silly.

Outlawed? No. The game however will become one that doesn't resemble the way it is currently played.

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business. It can absorb the costs of litigation/settlement. What's happening now though is that piece of shite plaintiff's attorneys see blood in the water and are going after the lower levels (college and HS) who have many more past participants than the NFL. Eventually the risk of insuring schools' football programs will become too cost prohibitive for many schools/school boards. At that point they will simply just do away with football.

Less participation/good players at the HS level will eventually = less participation/good players at the college level which of course will eventually = less participation/good players at the NFL level. It will take a little while but either the game will dramatically change or eventually dry up and it will be 100% attributable to litigation.

I seriously doubt that you have watched ZERO football in the past couple seasons...
I watched the 4th quarter of the SB.

But yeah, no NFL football for 2 seasons. #3 is upcoming.

And I don't miss watching the track meet NFL football has become. I do miss what it was.

The helmet to helmet contact is not the main concern. Football is unsafe because you have human beings with enormous size and strength colliding into each other at high speeds. The only way to truly make the game safe would be to eliminate tackling.

I'm not sure of a year. I hope it's not outlawed. But to say there's no chance it will be is just trying to predict the future. Like I said earlier if it becomes a hollow shell of its former self it's as good as outlawed.

Again I hope I'm wrong with all this and that slope isn't as slippery as I think. I just fear I'm right.

I'm not at the point where I won't watch yet. Football is great. I enjoy it a lot. But it is a shell of the vastly superior entertainment product it once was. Big hits by players leading with their helmets were once game changing, momentum swinging plays that people love to see. Now they are momentum swinging plays for the other team. It is frustrating. It is ruining the game. And like others, I believe it's only the beginning.
