Should be higher, they look like they could make a run this year.

That Rummel/BM match up Oct. 24th looks to be huge.

Shaw @ Rummel is going to be painful to watch.

Can't wait till Bairnsfather is gone.

Trey Ragas will get his yards, though.
It's a huge rivalry matchup and anything can happen in those, no matter how unlikely it looks.

Agreed, they've looked great. Calpreps is whacky though with some weird formula for everything. West Monroe was #2 last week and beat #4 Franklinton, yet dropped to #3 this week. Rummel lost, stays the same. Byrd beat 1-3 Captain Shreve and somehow jumps WM on Calpreps. Who knows how the computer comes up with this crap.

There are only 10 teams in their division. It takes TWO WINS to make it to the Dome. Run isn't necessary. They can take a stroll to the "State Championship"

What has happened to L.W. Higgins?
That used to be a good program with some really serious players coming from there. Now they're the bottom of the West Bank.

I would think Thomas Jefferson has hurt Higgins the most.

Also, COYW.

Has Karr always been a magnet? If not, I would think their emergence would have something to do with it as well.

don't think TJ kids were Higgins kids... you need to test to get into TJ, and they aren't that good in football

i think it's more Ehret and West Jeff hurting Higgins... those kids move around to whoever's house to play for who they want. Corey Lambert at Ehret has all the talent now

TJ is pretty good at football for their size (they have some talent that would play at any of the other WB schools).

Higgins clearly misses their old head coach Meyers.

Yeah, but you may see the same team again in the playoffs which can have bad results.

Just ask Rummel from last year, they did not want to see Jesuit a second time. It's very difficult to beat a team twice from the catholic league.

That's right. Let's say you're Martin with the season ending today.

Evangel
Brother Martin
Rummel
Curtis
Holy Cross
Catholic
Jesuit
St. Paul's
St. Aug
Shaw

They would likely have to go through Jesuit, Rummel and Curtis all in rematch games to win the state title. No one would call that easy.

They'd get a bye and likely never leave the city. I just have a hard time calling someone a State Champion that only competed against 10 teams total. Then again, I'd love to just see 2 State Champs for Louisiana. A large school and small school champ, cut it off at either a thousand students or just split down the middle evenly. People will say the smaller schools wouldn't be able to compete with the upper level of the small schools, but I disagree. Also, the disparity between the bottom of 5A and the top in enrollment is large already.

Nothing against those 10 schools at all. I'm against the split and think you should earn a title, not water it down until everyone is a winner.

They'd play 3 games, yes. Just what I said. And no one in the state wants to play Curtis, Rummel or Brother Martin this season in any playoff bracket you can draw up.
