Is Sicily Island one of those speed trap towns?
I don’t remember it being one back around 2005-2006 when I would drive through regularly going from New Iberia to Rayville, but my memory may be faulty.
I had to go through Harrisonburg on that route as well and I think it was a speed trap.

Good for St Charles for playing up to 4A. Shows that they embrace competition.
Waiting for STM to grow a pair and play up in Div 1

He’s sitting there pretty routinely on our way down to Baton Rouge. They changed the road a while back. It used to be I20 to Rayville exit, go right until the road ends/Sicily Island, go left through Natchez, then right to BR. Now you just keep going straight through Sicily Island. The road goes around now without a stop sign. I have always wondered where the island is. It’s all landlocked.

I'm going to be quite honest with you - I always thought Sicily Island was somewhere south of I10 until about 5 years ago when I drove through it.

I saw that list, a LOT more teams played up than I would have thought… and half of them made little sense

Some of them do it for financial reasons based on the districts. Move up a classification and play in a district that has better attendance so you make better gates and can find your athletic programs.

c'mon CL... don't go 0-10
I hate to bag on a HS football team, but after watching them against Hahnville last Friday convinced me that they’re the worst HS football team I’ve ever seen. They reminded me of one of those pathetic sports teams in the movies that eventually finds itself and goes on a magical run……but CL is the team at the BEGINNING of the movie and the credits roll 10 minutes in.

Robin Fambourough was at meetings today... Grant High claimed to be at economic disadvantage and wanted to be placed in 3A...denied. Iowa claimed that having a boys village that contributed 19 kids to their enrollment should let them stay in 3A... also denied.

The Delhi Charter/Sicily Island game has been canceled due to lack of healthy players for SI. SI then made the decision to discontinue their football program going forward. That’s sad that a program died out.
I understand and agree canceling this week's game.
Shutting down the program at this moment seems like an overreaction. Give it a few weeks and see if you can get more players, etc for next year. If not, then sure.

Wish the Catholic League as a group could do the same with Gormley… at least replace the scoreboard
City Park has really done a terrible job keeping up Gormley.

Not to mention that if you forfeit two games, by rule, you lose your program for a year.

quote:they only forfeited one? the previous game was stopped early by agreement of both coaches (legal) You mean forfeit by not playing right because Karr had 3 last year?

They’re really supposed to be class C lol… it’s hard to get players when you’re underfunded and there’s really no hope of winning more than 1 game…
