What match-up(s) are you excited about watching/reading about for 9/9-9/11 high school games?
Walker @ St Amant (@ Dutchtown) is mine

Woodlawn at U High could be a good one. Woodlawn's a good squad but this will be their first game while U High was able to play last week.

Scotlandville beat EA last night.

The Dutchtown field is the only field in AP. EA used it last night, Dutchtown uses it tonight, and St. Amant uses it Saturday. Apparently it was the only artificial turf they finished laying down before the hurricane.

The dreaded Open. They're feistier than you'd expect. Gotta watch out for them.

West Monroe was supposed to play Brother Martin. Ida had other plans. WM kept in contact with Brother Martin from before the storm until Tuesday morning of this week. Coaches for Brother Martin said the powers that be above them nixed the game. It was too late for anyone to agree to come play at WM despite calling teams from 5 different states and offering up to $40K guaranteed.

In Shreveport today and tomorrow:

quote:

Friday, September 10
5:30 pm – C.E. Byrd vs Tioga, LA
8:00 pm – Southwood HS vs Woodlawn HS

Saturday, September 11
3:00 pm – Oxford High School vs Ruston HS Bearcats
7:00 pm – Captain Shreve vs Leesville High School

quote:

Due to damage as well as uncertainty in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, the John Curtis Christian Patriots have cancelled their appearance in the 2021 Battle on the Border. The Ruston High School Bearcats have agreed to replace the Patriots.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in south Louisiana affected by Hurricane Ida,” said Joe Mero, Assistant Director of Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation. “John Curtis has been a loyal participant in the Battle on the Border for years and we hate to see the Patriots have to pull out of the showcase, but completely understand that football is not their priority right now. Ruston had an open date in week two, so I spoke to coach Jerrod Baugh and he agreed to bring the Bearcats to Shreveport. I’m grateful to Ruston and coach Baugh for taking this game on such short notice.”

The Bearcats were originally slated to play the Archbishop Rummel Raiders in week two, but Rummel, which is in Metairie, La., was also affected by the hurricane.

Tickets for the Battle on the Border X start at $10 for advanced general admission, and one ticket is good for all four showcase games. For more information about Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase, visit www.thebattleontheborder.com.

Not the great matchups Charlie Cavell has put together in the past, but there's still some good games in this post-Covid shutdown year.

STM vs ASH is going to be a good one. STM is coming off a loss to Madison Prep and ASH is coming off a blow-out of Ferriday.

No disrespect but putting Southwood in that is like putting Chalmette in a NOLA showcase…

yeah I knew that, I also agree with the powers that be, if your school is shutdown for a disaster, you really shouldn't be playing

the hurricane has zero to do with the other 3 fields in AP not being ready.
