Let's try and have fun with this...

What parishes have the best sports, players, history in the state?
Which have the worst history, players, sports?
Any other banter worth mentioning... For the sake of this thread class means nothing! If you have some knowledge to share then share it. Some of you guys keep up with this a whole lot, and I'd like to read some of the history.

Overall out of the sixty-four parishes I'd rank Lafourche(my home) 25th

go

ETA: After the 2013 basketball playoffs I will do a updated top ten. Using football and basketball as the measuring sticks. Also will take into account any cache' a parish has earned over time.

St. Tammany east of Slidell is probably pretty low. However from Slidell: Chris Duhon, Matt Forte, Torris Bright...

okay maybe not 64th all-time... we have state runner-up finishes in boys basketball, girls basketball, and baseball. our girls dominated volleyball in the 80s lol and we won a bowling title before Katrina with my brother-in-law

i'm sure some two-bit parish somewhere has been worse than us. maybe Tensas, Concordia, or East Carroll?

but right now? def. 64th

i'd say 1. Ouachita, 2. Orleans, 3. Jefferson, 4. Caddo, 5. Calcasieu

i'd say my formula is weighted more towards football and more recent years

@LesterEarl- many are aware. As I've stated in another thread... Its just as a private school that recruits. Anything cool where you attended?
Which parish do you reside?

The two O parishes certainly top 10.

I know Ouachita Parish has right at 30 titles in just football since 1920 and played in more title games than that. Then you have baseball titles(OCS and WM) and basketball titles(Ouachita, Richwood and Carroll) to go along with it. And it's more than one title in baseball and basketball for some of those schools. Not too bad for one parish.

For its size, Rapides has been hapless in producing great teams/players. Particularly in football.
