No one wants Curtis and ECA. Let's be honest. They are the reason for the split and all of the problems. Now that there is a split, even the private schools want nothing to do with them.

They don't need LHSAA schools for their scheduling!

they also have Karr, Bergen Catholic from NJ, and St. Thomas Aquinas from FL in addition to what's on there

look at it from their perspective. you think they want to play 90% of LA teams outside of their district and state playoffs? state titles are ho-hum there. they're trying to be national champs

You mean beating Cohen by 60 doesn't help their power rankings Nationally?

Not true. Sure, the staff may have many, many titles but to each kid, they may only have the opportunity to play in one or two state title games and staff knows that. Curtis has made their schedule the way it is, so even if they struggle early on, they can regroup and rally for a state title in 3A.

If a private school wants to play in Lhsaa instead of Lisa then they follow the same rules as public schools or get kicked out of the Lhsaa.

The big this is this: SE LA public schools don't care what league they are in, they want to be with the private schools. NE LA private schools would probably join leagues from other states or the LCSAA if they are a small school. I don't think a breakup would mean one league. I can see many teams joining different leagues.

Any word from the meeting yet. Seems like I remember they had people tweeting developments at the last one. But I can't remember where I found those.

Stupider than just leaving it as-is but not quite as stupid as lumping 3A through 5A together.

Well, they've been trying different things for about 20 years now and none have really worked. So I don't think you're going to see anything that everyone agrees on. If this one goes down, I think it's back to the status quo (i.e.: stranglehold on at least one, sometimes two classes) until JC and the Evangel coach grow old and retire or pass on.

fricking stupid. 10 champs, some with as little as 10 teams in the entire classification. Ridiculous.

Screw it let all high school teams in louisiana recruit like the private schools.

Move the parents to a new house and find them jobs. If a kid transfers from one la school to another they can't play for a year.

That's the way it was where I played. Kids could swap schools within a certain radius of where they lived but had to sit out a year.

List of Recommendations:
1. 5 Non-Select & 5 Select Divisions for the sport of Football (also suggested combining Select 4A and 5A)

2. Charter schools without a select admissions policy be removed from the Select School category.

3. Review of current residence & transfer rules that proposes attendance zones shall be parish lines.

4. Consideration of the use of a playoff success factor for each classification cycle.

5. To allow a school to play up in any higher classification.

6. For Football change from 5 classifications to 4 divisions. (This would need to be voted on by principals in Jan & wouldn't apply to 2013.)

7. Schools which provide financial aid to students must use an approved financial aid processing service.

8. Secure necessary budgetary funding to hire a private detective to conduct investigations.

9. Have random, unannounced rules compliance visits.

10. Violations reported during the 10day period prior to end of reg season until end of championships won't be conducted until end of champs.

11. Student-athletes shall not be allowed to compete in the same sport at 2 different schools in the same sports season.

I didn't think they allowed this now.

Everyone I know who transferred and was eligible that same season went from an LHSAA school to a MPSA one like Silliman.

Are you really that naive to think the public schools don't do this? I guess places like Barbe, and West Monroe just naturally have all of that talent in their districts.

This is one reason why I can see the privates just leaving. It's just getting out of hand.
