i didnt read everything, but it's page 9 in this thread. Surely the recruiting angle has been discussed by now? Curtis can recruit players from outside their area(legally) and public schools can't. Not really the same.

nobody claims the resident football factories in LA are Ben Franklin or whoever, but if kids weren't being educated you think those schools would survive?

One, name me a situation where the private schools, mainly in South LA, would be going out of their way to frick over North LA public schools.

Just because McCall HS in Tallulah has beaten my alma mater multiple times in the 2A basketball playoffs doesn't mean I'm going to get them sent to a separate set of playoffs under a bullshite claim of "fairness".


Two, tell me exactly how fricking over roughly 25% of the LHSAA membership because of two specific schools is going to do anything but cause more friction between various members instead of solving the entire problem, which is the perception, rightly or wrongly, that Curtis and Evangel recruit and have undue advantages.



Winnfield et all could have pushed forward legitimate measures to force the LHSAA leadership to look into Curtis and Evangel, given that those two particular schools have been a source of friction for nearly 20 years, as 4A wanted no part of Curtis and 5A wanted no part of Evangel before both were sent down to 2A.

In short, I'm fricking PISSED that the public schools and, by extension, the LHSAA has thrown all private schools under the bus because no one wants to address the goddamn elephants in the room.

From my understanding on what may happen, either this bill will get dropped in the next week or so, or this will drag out into the summer. If it gets drug out for a couple more months, we can expect that over the summer the LHSAA will be reduced to only private schools and the public school league will have to configured. The private schools would most likely vote out of the LHSAA anyone who came from a public background and elect their own leaders. Last minute reconfiguring of the classifications and districts would have to happen. There are only around 70 private schools so it may simply be reduced to large schools and small schools.

I would also imagine that some of the stricter rules on recruiting would be relaxed since private schools need to recruit students to fill the desks, and an all private organization will not encourage obstacles for that.

I would also imagine that referees and officials would choose to work mainly for the private schools over the public schools in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas.

I would expect that the public schools outside of the New Orleans and BR regions would not be affected much, but public schools in the city would have a much harder time getting quality officials for their events.

All in all, I think that both organization would survive, but the oversights that keep recruiting at private schools from taking athletes at the public schools would be finished.

So, anybody expecting decisions to come out of today's meeting? Or will it take a couple of days.

if any of you were at any of the LHSAA meetings/discussions that put Curtis and ECA playing in their enrollment class - would realize... who wields the power in LA and.... and how katrina.. undid their "perfect medicine" to clip the patriots and eagles wings....

there were many that thought pushing them to 1a and 2a would sink them........

last years curtis team was one of the best ever fielded in LA.... ECA is now recovered from the CBA split.....

and.. recruiting isn't the biggest problem people have with them.. not the people that really know whats going on.... heck their are some schools that have been more than 10 years without a state title in a boys sport.. that are out recruiting EVERYONE and then some.....


and FWIW.... The LHSAA needs to be completely revamped.... the last few years have proven that...

and Their is a willing and capable person waiting in the wings to drive the bus should there be upheaval.....

Those schools in football are a tough out no matter what the "perfect medicine" would have been. The best way to neutralize them would be.to develop more programs on their level.
