So what are they trying to run Bonine out of town now?

Bonine will likely be voted out during special meeting.

Keep the split.

That is all.

Bye Bye Bonine

It's clearly evident that the LHSAA, and especially the EC, do not see eye to eye with their hired employee. This looks like something that can't be fixed.

He was hired and took the job being told the split could be fixed

He was not told the truth

It will get worse

I feel bad for the guy. He came in here really trying to help fix this.

The stubborn powers that be are dead set on ruining La High School Athletics.

I think it can be... but the expectations for the next guy should be revised to "keeping publics and privates able to play each other in the regular season". Combined playoffs might become a lost cause, but make divisions big enough and most fans won't even notice, like 4 nonselect, 3 select in football

This seems like a reasonable compromise. But i guess they have to burn all the bridges before it comes to that.

What should be remembered is with the format until 2012, all 300ish football teams were in 5 classes. It was generally understood that 5-5 would get you into the playoffs more often than not, and nobody complained that there were too many teams in the playoffs.

Now if you rejigger the numbers, you can get back to at least having 4 wins be that magic number, instead of 0-10, 1-9 teams getting in in some classes.

A rule where a minimum of 4 wins is required might also work too... let's say school A would be a 32nd seed at 3-7... either teams below 32 with 4 wins would get playoff berths, or the spot in the bracket becomes a bye for the 1 seed...

If the LHSAA is already has money issues, how are they going to make it financially when the select schools leave?

Screw the LHSAA, I don't totally love the idea of splitting off and forming a new organization (the disparity of school size in the larger divisions is going to be huge) but the LHSAA has left no choice. Good riddance. Maybe we can join MAIS and have an LA division.

I don't think the private schools will go for that.

In reality, the next Director needs to be a person that can manage the breakaway and recast the association as a smaller association.

When you say divisions, you mean just for playoffs, or get rid of a class or two?

Are they still paying on Kenny Henderson's contract?

Bonine will get a job somewhere else, so maybe they can structure the buyout that they only have to pay any difference between his LHSAA salary and a new salary.

I feel bad for the man - left another executive director job to come here. But it seems like he didn't do his homework... everyone knew two years ago these issues were just gonna get worse.

Curtis would never lose. I've watched many River Oaks games against Mississippi MAIS teams. It would be a bloodbath.
