Oh I know, 26-7 WM win in Hap Gaudi Classic is their only meeting. Just saying, Curtis and Evangel are the root of all things Split, yet they could both lose on the same night to public schools in 6 weeks. Kinda puts a dent in the thinking that public schools can't compete with private.

this ALL comes from the dumbass move to put them down in 1a and 2a in 2004.....

Because 19 is way too old and people will use that to game the system. See: Parkview

but all schools can hold back equally... no changes needed

some kids fail in fourth grade and become good students by high school

but yet the split didn't happen till '13... if that wasn't Winnfield that was destroyed by Curtis in the Dome you think Jane Griffin would have pushed for it?

what nobody seems to remember about that season conveniently... Winnfield beat THREE select schools in a row to get to John Curtis in the Dome in 2011.

#18 St. Thomas Aquinas 41-0 in round 2

#7 Episcopal (BR) 27-24 in the quarterfinals

#3 Calvary Baptist 41-21 in the semifinals

did Jane Griffin think THAT was unfair?

I hope them and Many never win anything again. the split is all a well and fine idea until the effects threaten innocent schools

some might, but remember, the LHSAA always errs on the side of keeping kids eligible and rightly so

Just out of curiosity, what "innocent" schools were hurt? Traditional (aka "non-select"...the term alone shows the divide) schools seem to like it.

AD's would have a vote instead of principals who are, inherently, political.

Don't the principals hire the athletic directors? AD doesn't vote the way the principal does, they will just find someone who will.

Absolutely. We need to have less classes and divisions, not more.

While that move was beyond stupid, it was 12 years ago. At what point to the public school principals move on? Curtis is now where they need to be, and truly, Evangel is a shell of their former selves.

I was driving through Winnfield on Sunday, and I swear to God the sign in front of the school on 167 says "2011 State Champs". If anyone is nearby, I'd appreciate a picture. I couldn't believe what I saw. So butthurt.

when a new association forms, teams will have to pick which one they're gonna play in, and they might have to leave rivals behind because these public school principals are a vindictive bunch. they won't let LHSAA schools play another association (just watch), just like they don't let the LHSAA play MAIS.

it's easy to say to the private schools you have it good in the LHSAA, but they keep getting shite on.

Again, where are the innocent victims? Now I read about how the private schools are being shite on. How exactly? By split playoffs? So who suffered exactly? As for the number of titles, who gives a shite. In my mind, they aren't real anyway. The funny thing is that I have read before about how the number of classifications have led to more blowouts. That is only partly true depending on what you feel is a blowout. I would say more than 21 is a blowout. If that is the standard, then there were blowouts in 3/5, 5/9, and 5/9 times the last three years. 5 is more than three, but 3/5 and 5/9 are fairly close. The public schools claim they are playing against a stacked deck by in large. On the Northshore, Mandeville (x2), Ponchatoula, and Covington have all made the semifinals. Yet none of them have been able to unseat St. Paul as outright district champs. Coincidence? Or, do the two different sets of rules really give the private schools a built in advantage? Maybe St. Paul just has the best coaches. Either way, the perception is that the public schools are being victimized. I personally don't want a split, but I sure as hell could see why the public school principals would be "vindictive". They are heRing from their coaches. Maybe it's excuses, maybe it's true. No mater, a full split is coming imo. Additionally, if public and private schools don't play across associations, I fear that the privates will then become a handful of juggernauts and a bunch of has beens. Be careful what you wish for.

Very, very few 19 year olds play football in Louisiana. There are a ton of 19 year old basketball, track, and baseball players in Louisiana. Why doesn't anyone cry about those sports?

That might occur for a couple of years. But the private schools bring butts in seats. And in NOLA, the pressure will be too great. You think CHS will willingly give up the game against Holy Cross? The teams that play St Aug?

And NOLA will have to submit to rules made by the rest of the state who hates them... sound familiar?

jJ 27 right not many 19 year olds playing fb- But what was the hold back rate at wm in that news star article85%?

That's 85% that should be in college

Lsufanhouston
We is a lot of resentment over that
It was 12 years ago but the smaller schools had 10 years of getting thumped by JC and ECA

In that 10 year span nobody other than JC or ECA won state in the class they were

Privates ar being crapped on for 1 3 a having to play w 4a wh e thie numbers are closer to 2a and 4a closer to 5.

Less playoff games for 2....

Also outside of urban areas publics and privates draw the same

They might've quoted it that high but it wasn't accurate. Most I ever saw was 22 in a year. It still happens, it just happens earlier. Obviously it's not a WM only thing. Look at the rosters at the Perfect Game 16U WWBA/World Series. They're all 2018 kids, so seems like everyone is holding back. My girls will be in 5th grade this year and we won't be holding back. Hopefully it doesn't put them at a disadvantage later in dance/cheer.

That's why I say if the LHSAA won't let us play, we should sue for the lost gate for three sports every year, our biggest guaranteed gate in each one.
