Harden is poor defensively, but 20 teams in the league would frickNG love to deal with his issues to get the 27, 5.4(reb), 6.6(asst), 38 minutes a night, 79 games a year. It may not always be pretty, and his defense lacks a lot to be desired, but he's a rare talent most teams would rather have than not

Did you expect him to throw him under the bus? There's like 3 players ever who have posted numbers as good as Harden.

Yet I'm 99% sure he'll never lead a championship team.

What do you do in free agency when your star player doesn't play defense? Hand out 4 years and 133 mil worth of contracts to two poor defenders! Yes, that sounds like a fantastic plan.

I sense sarcasm in your fantastic plan statement.

I think I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the Rockets considering their track record. They're a well-run franchise.

Being serious though, Ryno is one of the worse defenders in the whole association

the thing with Harden to me is he seems like he could play good defense if he wanted to

he is not like Ryan Anderson who just can't play defense

Harden isn't that quick so he does have some trouble staying in front of quicker offensive players. He's actually a pretty good post defender because he's pretty strong. He's been put on PF's in the past and had success defending them.

But he also doesn't give enough effort on the defensive end of the floor. He COULD be an above average defender if he put in the effort. Two season ago when they went to the conference finals, he did put more effort in and he was above average. But he's asked to do so much on offense that I understand him slacking on the other side of the floor.

He's one of those nerds who is a fan of individual players and has no official team.
