The Philadelphia Eagles have signed veteran free agent running back LeGarrette Blount, according to an official announcement from the team. NFL insider Ian Rapoport notes the deal is worth up to $2.8 million.

The signing of Blount is bad news for two Eagles players. First, it confirms that Ryan Mathews is going to be gone, which we all basically knew anyway. It also means undrafted free agent signing Corey Clement will have a harder time making the final roster, though he could still end up on Philadelphia’s practice squad.

If Carson Wentz can take a step towards being a high level qb, the eagles have a good shot at winning the NFC

Yeah but he fills a big need for the Eagles, who had no power backs on the roster.

When you're nearing the end of your career and you're trying to make as much as possible to better your family's situation, yes, it's important.

Maybe the East, but doubtful. They got 8-8 written all over them.

Yeah, they've got a long way to go before they are competing for the NFC crown.

Do you really think he would have been a key cog in the RB rotation for the Pats? Plus he already won 2 SBs.

Peej just being a sidewalk fan.

The Pats have something like 5 RBs on their roster. They'll probably cut one maybe two. They don't need to add another.

Blount is at the end of his career. Nobody expected him to have the season he did hence his small market. He's also very inconsistent

Of course money is that important. The guy has a couple of years of earning potential then has to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. Who gives a shite about another title.
