What about the part where let the kid be a kid, go to dances, have dates etc etc.

He's following the Earl Woods model on how to screw up an athelete

How come nobody had a problem with Tebow being home-schooled but have an issue with the Ball family doing the exact same thing?

Wasn't Tim Tebow home schooled for all of his pre-college schooling?

Basically, Lavar Ball is pulling LaMelo Ball out of school because he thinks school is a distraction.

There is a difference.

That isn't why he's pulling him out of school.

He's pulling him out because he thinks he can make a buck.

It's sad that people think this is the biggest "sports news" story of the day.

In a matter of a couple of weeks, LaMelo went from being the first high school kid how have his own signature shoe to now being the first home schooled kid with his own shoe

Investigated by CPS? Are you serious Clark? Y'all can hate on him all you want but he's successfully raised 3 kids with 1 in the NBA, 1 st UCLA, and another headed to UCLA, and just recently taken care of his ill wife. Y'all demand complete perfection.

Lamelo's extremely immature and impressionable, even for a 15 year old. He's nothing like his older brothers.

Guess Lavar sees him getting caught up with the wrong crowd. Don't know if that changes with pulling him out of school though. Might make it worse.

I don't see the big deal, the kid plays plenty of AAU ball. Plus he could still play for a school, even though he is home schooled (ala Tebow)..

I don't get the big deal either. A lot of kids are homeschooled these days, and high school ball is less relevant than AAU.

I could see if Lavar raised a bunch of frickups but his other two sons seem pretty well grounded.

Lamelo's just a lot different from them.

I’ll preface this by saying that it sucks for the kid, and LaVar can do a lot of things differently, but this is absolutely absurd.

Just because you think he’s obnoxious, or because you’d do literally everything differently than him, doesn’t mean he’s a bad father. His oldest son is playing for the Lakers, his middle son has a free ride to UCLA, and Lamelo is being homeschooled now apparently. The horror. All their success stems from him and his ways quite frankly. What are your kids doing? What are you doing? The guy has taken the unbeaten path by creating his own hoops brand, and some people actually really like it. That takes balls and smarts. All this while helping his wife and their mom recover from a stroke. Y’all just don’t like him because he’s loud and different than you. Objectively, he’s kind of killing it right now.

Seemed to work out for Bryce Harper when he dropped out, got his GED, and went to JUCO early.
Wow, you're right.

And LaMelo is a better prospect on top of that.

Athletes are kids until they're about 30. He'll have time for all that in the league.

Melo's style of play is so reminiscent of Steph Curry but he's taller and aggressive around the paint, just needs to fill out and the sky's the limit. He is gonna be a STUD in the league.

word on the streets is lavar didn't have too much of a choice he was gonna flunk out

i would say 16 year old vengeanceofrain if you gave me a lambo, made me a top 20 prospect in a class with an older broothger that plays for the lakers, u for sure woud have to pull me out of school. the only thing 16 year old vengance cared about was horses, cars with sub woofers, arse and basketball. not a single frick would be given at school if i could pull up in a lambo so yeah probably not a bad idea
