should have told the kid to get whatever yds he could and then go down, no need to get out of bounds.

that's on him.

He has a valid point with the time on the clock at the end of regulation and the spotting of the ball after the holding call.

USC got away with a blatant hold on their scoring drive late in the forth.

Would have been 1, but since he fell in bounds the clock doesn't stop until the ref waves his arm. Ask South Carolina re:Auburn.

It's stupid, to me anyway, that the rule isn't different in the last minute of the game. A second can be the difference between a win and a loss, so why does it fall on the refs not being slow as hell to wave off the clock? We should be beyond having a 2+ second differential between when a play ends to when the clock stops because a ref didn't raise his arms. At least in the waning minutes of the game.

it wasn't even a first down...the clock doesn't stop at all when you go down in bounds.

Dumb play call. I thought at the very least it would be a sideline hook, curl, out, fade...not a bubble screen run across the width of the field.

But yeah, there isn't a fan of any Pac 12 team who doesn't concur the refs are inept and always have been. It's not a "shady ref" complaint like the SEC...Pac refs are just dumb.

Kiffin is an a-hole...so that isn't a mystery. The "USC hate" is kinda retarded...going back to having to "share" the title with them in 2003/04. I never quite understood/cared about USC claiming a share of the title. We got a crystal ball, USC didn't. End of story.

As for the other night, Kiffin has a legit bitch about that personal foul call that kept the Stanford drive alive. The end of regulation scenario played out the way it should have. Dude was down with a second or less on the clock...the "human element" of a ref seeing a player down, then waving for the clock to stop takes at least a fraction of a second to occur...there should have been no time left. The runner could have taken a knee in the middle of the field with 2 seconds left and called timeout. That would have worked just fine...but that is a hard thing to expect a kid to do in that situation.

he was down, in bounds, short of the first down marker with approx 1 sec left.

game over.

This is all you need to know

quote:

"Any coach can ask for a timeout, but he doesn't get one until an official grants or signifies it," Batlan said. "I was not a part of any conversation or meeting with regards to a requested timeout."

exactly. just because you wave your hands in the air asking for a TO doesnt mean the clock immediately stops running.

hell in baseball batters ask for a TO and step out of the box only to have in not granted and the pitcher fires the easiest strike ever.

kiffin is dead in the water on this
