An eighth-grader was “hurt” after Kevin Durant attacked his move on Twitter — seemingly out of the blue.

Knowing the internet, one may think the middle schooler dished out hate to Durant but couldn’t take it in return. Instead, it was actually a circumstance where the Nets star took a random shot at a kid’s viral highlight video.

After the social account Overtime shared a move of 13-year-old Jayden Moore, from suburban Minneapolis, missing a turnaround jumper after a couple crazy dribbles, Durant tweeted, “This s–t stinks.”
quote:

Responding to someone who told him it was just a kid, Durant tweeted, “It’s about habits man.”

Durant’s tweets caused a massive pile-on, and now the video has been viewed over 5 million times.

Jayden told USA Today that he was “hurt and confused” by Durant going after him.
quote:

“Like, what made him take time out of his day to say something negative instead of encouraging me or telling what really needs to be done and then texting me privately or something like that,” Jayden said.

Jayden’s mother, Valeta, told the outlet that she had instructed her son not to take the criticism personally. “I was going to , ‘Why’s KD being so mean? It’s the week of Christmas,’ ” she said.

“There’s almost an immaturity with them to take the time to even go on Twitter and look at that and comment,” added Jayden’s coach, Ken Novak. “In fairness to them, I’m sure they’re trying to create what they see as better basketball, people sharing. And maybe they’re making a comment trying to say that. But they just got to realize who they’re saying it to.”
quote:

Thanks for the constructive criticism,” Jayden tweeted. “I’ve grown from my 6th grade year! Maybe we can work on some stuff together!! All love. Hopefully I can get to where you at one day! #keepgrinding.”

Durant clearly has some extra time on his hands, as he is one of many Nets to be in the NBA’s COVID protocol. On Wednesday, it was announced that the team’s third straight game had been postponed.

We need more of this. All these kids thinking they have the slimmest chance in hell to be professional athletes needs some tough love. Go get a job.

I liked Durant's follow up tweet even better.

KD isn't wrong. He says it's about bad habits. Kid needs to learn to shoot first. All that fancy dribbling don't mean anything if you can't score. Ask Jordan McCabe. He went viral with his dribbling skills when he was 11 or 12. Recruited by WVU and really never progressed. Especially scoring. Transfered to UNLV and is currently averaging 7pts in almost 30 minutes per game as a senior. He can dribble though....

Are we really going to gloss over the several years long trend of KD going after teenagers on social media?

It’s telling that the 12 years response was literally miles more mature than KDs.

Maybe KD can tell me how grass is green and the sky is blue next.

The kid is 13 wtf are you talking about?

Tough love is great
KD is a count
You’re a idiot for thinking this 13 year old kid needs to go get a job instead of trying to be good at basketball

I don't like Durant, or really anyone in the NBA. But I don't think this is a big deal. Who cares how old the kid is? Saying "that stinks" is just a matter of opinion. Do his teachers have to give him an A, even if he fails his test, just because he's 13 and it might hurt his feelings?

When I read the headline saying "attacks", I was expecting a tirade and all kinds of name calling. People are beyond soft.

I’m all for tough love thrown upon kids, but imagine being one of the best in the game, yet still being insecure enough to do this.

double dribble

Massive double dribble. WTF are you doing, refs?

KD commenting on it is stupid obviously, and it shouldn't be a big deal. But when you're KD and one of the biggest bitches on social media, I don't feel bad when you're called out for saying this kinda shite.
