No. But he's the best shooter ever.

No. The PPG leader is Jordan at 30.12 and Durant is at 26.5. He'll bring it up over his prime, but once his 30s come around his scoring numbers will dip back down. Unless he really picks up his scoring and/or usage and gets into the mid-30s a few seasons, he won't do it.

No but I could see the Thunder being the Bills of the NBA. I can see them going to the Finals almost every year but if they play the Heat they are fricked

He sure made it look easy to put up 50 tonight. He wasn't even on for a while.

He had 31 FGA and 21 FTA. All together that's roughly 40 shots. He only shot 40% from the field. When you take that many shots and get that many foul calls, you're going to put up a lot of points.

There's a lot of guys that are better shooters. Durant's size and agility make it very, very difficult to defend him.

He's very skilled and has great body control to be able to put up a balanced good form shot when others would just be chunking up crap to not turn the ball over.

I think it was Sophandros who pointed to Drazen Petrovich when we had a thread on the subject - he's a good one. I was thinking of Ray Allen or Nick Price but Drazen's numbers are better

Best from the line and beyond the arc. Probably not the best all around.

If Westbrook ever decided to be "the man" somewhere else, Durant would have more shots and more points. Possible, but most likely he can't sustain 30+ ppg throughout his career.

he got 52 points on 31 shots, which is impressive

What makes Durant unique is his efficiency; we've seen plenty of volume scorers with stratosphereic usage rates on the perimeter; we've seen a lot of guys who were able to spend a half decade grinding it out in the paint with high shooting percentages, and lower usage rates, but who didn't hold up because of the grind.

What makes Durant (and Nash,to a lesser extent) is the way they combine paint-type efficiency with perimeter play. Now, I think Durant's body type isn't going to hold up as well as a more compact guy- think Allen/Miller/Nash-- but if it does, he's sort of a unique thing-- a shooting perimeter guy who gets his, without swallowing an offense with his shots.
