Didn't he just sign a long extension to stay in OKC?
Yes, after Durant had already left. Before that, the narrative was that Westbrook was headed to LA this Summer and Durant would be by himself in OKC if he were to resign.

Winners put themselves in a better situation to succeed. This notion that trying to deliberately make yourself worse off makes you more of a winner is mind boggling.

That's infinitely more fulfilling.
I hear ya. Some people run from adversity and some people face it.
To each their own.

By that logic, why would anyone try and start their own business? There's a romantic notion associated with overcoming obstacles and succeeding on your own.

Others choose to work at their current job in their hometown and remain miserable doing so without being truly successful because it's the comfortable thing to do.

Some, probably most, of the biggest winners and most successful people in business did so by starting their own business.

By my logic starting your own business is potentially putting yourself in a better position to succeed. You are creating a situation where the limits of success is heightened. You can more greatly reap the rewards of your hard work, but you are also creating higher risk.
By your logic there's more glory and romanticism to starting your own business and purposesly hiring incompetent employees, making bad decisions, lowering your chances of success, and barely squeaking out a living or even deliberately failing. After all, you are more of a winner if you fail than if you succeed, according to you.

There is no glory to Durant joining the Warriors team that just set the single season wins record.
It is almost disgusting that he did that. The Warriors are the most unlikable team in the league with their set of personalities.

You're probably trolling, but if you aren't, how can you not see the other side of this argument? I would think the ultimate satisfaction would have been to stick it out with the team who drafted him and finally win a title. It seems like he didn't think he was good enough to do it in OKC.

ANYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH ME IS TROLLING. AGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I'd leave the organization I work for in a heartbeat for my biggest competitor under circumstances where it's was basically a given that I'd be way more successful in my career as a result.

That's where people see differently. That team was a 4 minute meltdown away from being in the Finals last year.

The poster above nailed when he said the notion of intentionally taking the harder path is just silly. It used to be winning is everything and all that matters, and these athletes just don't care enough about winning. Then lebron and KD make decisions that obviously put winning over everything else, and everyone is like, no don't do that. Do it the more difficult way!!!
Again, it's illogical.

Will never wish an injury on anyone no matter how bitter I am that he bailed on my team.
This offseason is gonna be interesting for GS.
Durant can opt out and Curry is a FA.
If they sign both to the max, they will be right at the cap with a lineup of
Durant
Curry
Thompson
Green
Looney, Jones, McCaw
That's it.

GS has a two year window, they better hope KD is alright for the rest of the year.
