Incompetent or just a puppet for the principals?
He just can't get out of his own way.

he is a former principal, so he is a puppet that looks and acts like the puppet masters

My mom is a coach for one of the high schools and she said there uses to only be black and white when it came to the rules and no grey area what so ever. She said that now its a joke and there only seems to be a grey area even though the rules might clearly be explained.

This was obvious based on the punishment Don Shows got in the Cam Robinson clusterfrick. Don gets suspended two games yet the LHSAA says they did nothing wrong. It reminded me of that time I got suspended from school for a fight that took place between a group of kids and I wasn't even at school that day.

Not mad all. My kids are long gone from HS. I thought a Comissioner's job was to set policy and enforce the rules.
Henderson seems to like to sit on the fence and let the principal's decide the important issues without any meaningful input from his office.
Why on earth wouldn't he just enforce his own 48 hour rule. I guess it wasn't really a real rule, just a sometimes rule.
And if Salmen does have an ineligible player, they should be disqualified.

The defiantly made the wrong selection when Tommy Henry left the LHSAA. There is a lot of buyers remorse out there about Henderson.

True. See Proposal 18

He sure has his chest puffed out about the Supreme Court decision that the Legislature can't screw with his organization. Rarely do I think legislative intervention would be helpful, but it surely would in this public/"select" debacle.

I don't think it's the legislature he has to be worried about, I think his armagedon is coming from within.. .and soon.

I hope you're right choupique. I know there is a legislative committee hearing this morning-not sure which one, but one of our lobbyists plans on checking in on it while he's there.

Well, he was pretty pissed that he and all of his employees got taken out of the State Employee's Pension Plan.
And the legislature might not be able to tell the LhSAA what to do, but they can forbid the public schools from being members.

Hadn't thought about that angle, but the public schools got exactly what they wanted (everybody gets a trophy), so doubt the legislature will go down that road.

Had a long talk with a pretty influential principal from a public school yesterday and.... apparently a lot of them saw this coming.
the problem is when you put the association above the interest of the kids. Since integration there are so many cases where kids got dumped on even when they ASKED for ruling or clarifications on the rules PRIOR to playing...
From what I understand - they have a very good replacement willing to take over - I think it is one that shyed away from it in the past. I can assure you for now the select non select is dead - but look for select schools to have their enrollment counted differently than non selects at the next full meeting (which really is fair)

Look closer at the vote... class B and C carried it who don't even play football!
What needs to happen is the 1940s logic in a lot of the rules needs to be reviewed and revised.
Also.. "select/private" schools need proportional representation on committees - and this is gaining serious momentum in the select school circles.

We'll see. There are some discriminatory concerns at the Capitol, not to mention the fiscal ramifications if the private schools leave.

Class C all had to vote on it or there was a proposal after Prop 18 to abolish Class C altogether and move Class C schools up to B. It was a deal cut with the Class C schools so they could get there votes for Prop 18 and in turn everybody else would leave Class C as is.
