Do players have to give a speech for DPOY?

There needs to be stricter qualifications on who gets a vote. Like why does Matt Winer and Sage Steele get votes for being studio hosts?

Because they does

Green definitely deserved it more than Leonard
If the argument is Leonard's missed games, it's definitely a fair point.

But otherwise, you're splitting hairs between the 2, but Green is not definitely a better defender IMO.

Also, LOL at the Deandre Jordan votes. He wasn't the best defensive player on his own team this season.

Kawhi winning the DPOY during a series is a huge distraction; Clippers in 6

I know this sounds crazy, but the most underrated defender on the Clippers is Redick. The guy works his arse off. I expected defense to be a huge weakness for him in the NBA, and it really isn't.

Yeah, but I don't think he is asked to guard a guy who can create his own shot...more of a help defender, which is not a bad thing thou.

It makes me so mad, but Redick has actually guarded Harden 1 on 1 better than almost anyone this year.

I hope you're right!!!

I won't be able to take the mocking of my beloved Chrissy(CP3) if he should lose in the 1st round.

Yea, he's pretty much average. Obviously not great in iso, but knows how to play team D, always in the right position, all that stuff.

Chris Paul's defense was very underrated this season, you can argue, not sure I'd 100% agree, that a PG's defense isn't as important as a rim protector like Jordan, but Paul was definitely better at his position.

Pretty much everything CP3 did this season was underrated.

Now you're speaking my language, I like this guy!!

He should be top 2 or 3 in MVP talks, so yea, I'm not sure why he's been overlooked this season.

LOL@ Bill Worrel voting for Trevor Ariza. I wonder if he knows how biased he his.

Also, DeAndre Jordan might be the biggest farce as a "good" defensive player. the plus/minus for LAC when he's off the floor is actually better defensively. DeAndre just blocks shots. Kind of like Nola interior D which allows a ton of points in the paint.

This is why coaches, general managers and scouts should be the only ones allowed to vote.

Kawhi Leonard is the 3rd player to win both NBA Finals MVP & Defensive Player of the Year during his career. He joins Jordan & The Dream

Unfortunately, there are some idiots in this pool as well. Like I said earlier, I think media members with national jobs can be good. I think it would be interesting to put together a committee of players, former players, GMs, coaches, and media. Maybe like 20 people that everyone really trusted to study the game and vote.

I was about to start a spinoff thread of exactly this

Also, is that the same group that selects all the other awards?

Do it! It would be interesting to balance who would accept. Popovich would not.
