He didn't say omit. He said Jordan wins all of the categories except those two.

So what is the new talking point just so we are clear.

- can't include college or high school
- can't include blocks or rebounds
- only count average career assists, points and finals mvps

Hell I think you have yourself an argument now

So PPG, APG SPG - MJ

BPG and RPG - Kareem

Congrats

Kareem is definitely taller.

His argument was clear. If you can't follow, that's on you.

Just admit you read the sentence wrong.

so only ppg, apg, spg, bpg, and rpg should be used in determining the GOAT? Let me know when you are finished moving the goal posts.

I feel like if there was a video of the back and forth in this thread it would look like a baby and a monkey flinging poo at each other.

I am saying 4 more Finals MVP outweighs 1 more MVP.

And that career stats are not useful in this conversation.

If you look at average stats MJ is ahead in a majority of them.

My only knock against Kareem is how mediocre his teams were without an elite PG leading the way. He had Oscar Robertson for his first five seasons in the NBA. After Robertson retired, the Bucks went 38-44 and missed the playoffs altogether. Kareem was traded to the Lakers the following season. In his first season with the Lakers, they went 40-42 and missed the playoffs. In Kareem's second season, the Lakers went 53-29 but got swept in the WCF. In Kareem's third season with the Lakers, they went 45-37 and lost in the first round. And in Kareem's fourth season in Los Angeles, the Lakers go 47-35 in a league with no dominant teams and lose in the second round of the playoffs. After that season, the Lakers draft Magic with the #1 overall pick and the rest as they say is history. But here's my question. Can anybody see LeBron or Jordan missing the playoffs twice and only making one conference final appearance in five seasons which are the absolute prime years (Ages 27-31) of their career? It would be unfathomable. So why does Kareem get a pass for those years?

Well put.

I mean, Jordan didn't win a champ without an amazing 3 (Pippen), the winningest coach of all time (Phil) and a very good 4 (rodman and grant). The bulls championship teams of the 90s were absolutely stacked.

The only real data we have of this timeframe without one of those ingredients is the '94 and '95 seasons. In 94, without Jordan, the bulls actually have a very solid regular season (they won 2 fewer games than the season before when they had jordan) and lose in the second round of the playoffs. In 95 they lose grant as well, and take an absolute nose dive. Jordan's reappearance is enough to get them to the playoffs, but they again lose in the second round to an Orlando team that gets swept in the finals.

Now, when rodman comes on board the next year, they have one of the all time great teams assembled and win the champ.

Not only did MJ not win a title without Pippen and Jackson, he never achieved a winning season until the Bulls drafted Pippen and Grant and added Jackson to the coaching staff in 87. Every year MJ played without Pippen and Jackson his teams compiled a losing record.

Well put, indeed, but those early LA teams were poorly constructed. 6'5" forwards, Sweet Lou Hudson was reduced to a standstill shooter, not much of a bench, but Norm Nixon was a good player.

Kareem won a title in his first three years with a shitty Bucks team FYI. That's what GOATs do.

[quote]Only LSU homers believe this

Just like he destroyed Olajuwan right?[/quote"Olajuwan" in his prime and Shaq several years before his prime. You are a typical moron if you think Hakeem was as good as Shaq in Shaq's prime.

By your standard, Isaiah Thomas must be better than Michael Jordan.
