@AroundTheNFL: With the release of Phil Taylor, the #Browns now have no one left from their Julio Jones trade haul (Taylor, Little, Marecic, Weeden)

The Falcons also have one of the biggest issues with depth in the league. Julio is a stud, but could you imagine having some of the linemen that were available with those picks?

Why I sort of feared the Titans trading away Mariota for a bunch of picks. We normally suck at drafting too.

WR isn't the reason the Browns have been garbage. Julio wouldn't have done much to improve their record.

even worse was fleecing the colts for a 1st rounder and blowing it on Johnny Manziel

That's why the Browns are the Browns. What is also sad is if you consider that miss as well as the Gilbert/Manziel 1st rounders of last year, you are looking at one of the great missed opportunities in all the league. Just hit 50% on those high picks and the Browns are a different team.

On the bright side, Danny Shelton will be taking Taylor's place and he has looked great. I expect big things from him.

Can't wait till the Redskins part ways with RG3. Still amazed at what they gave up to get him.

Remember that movie the NFL made glorifying the Draft and they chose to feature Cleveland? This is the sequel.

Only the Browns could trade rape a team and then get fricked in the end.

Even after the Richardson trade, Browns could take Kelvin Benjamin or Teddy Bridgewater, but no trade up for Johnny Football.

Yep.

Only the Browns could land an enormous draft haul, flip a tailback for a first rounder, and still come out as colossal losers in that deal on both ends.

ETA -- I'll admit that I thought it was a bad deal for the Falcons at the time, but I still think it wasn't that good of a deal for Atlanta because they've won 10 games total the last two years and have undergone a coaching change. When you give up that many draft picks, you begin to cut into building depth through the draft, so just because Julio Jones just signed a big contract and the Browns players all busted out still doesn't mean it's been a great deal for Atlanta.

In fairness, they turned that pick (plus they're own '14 pick) into three first-round picks, with which they drafted Manziel, a [currently] fifth-string CB, and a backup right guard.

And Atlanta's OL is so weak they will be lucky to finish the season with a healthy Matt Ryan

This argument again.
Yes, we traded away depth. But at this point, the reason our depth is possibly the worst in the league is mainly because of poor drafting and FA pickups.

Julio is great. But the reality of having a highly paid quarterback (brees included falcons fans) and then trading away depth to pick up another skill position player is really challenging the system. Stocking up on relatively cheap talent becomes even more essential once you have a $20M quarterback.
