ESPN story

quote:

U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton said Clemens could not be assured a fair trial after prosecutors showed jurors evidence against his orders in the second day of testimony.

He will hear a motion on whether a new trial would be considered double jeopardy. Rusty Hardin, Clemens' attorney, said he needs until July 29 to file the motion for the double-jeopardy hearing. The prosecution has until Aug. 2 to respond and the hearing would take place Sept. 2.

They aired some type of video to the jury that had been ruled inadmissable. Dumbasses

So for all of the steroids scandal, Barry Bonds walks, Roger Clemens is going to walk, but Marion Jones got thrown in the federal slammer for 6 months and she spent about a month and a half in solitary confinement after she got into a fight.

That seems fair.

The judge said that players commentary on Clemens using hgh couldn't be used, like what pettitte said. They didn't show it directly but they showed the congressional hearing and in the hearing one one of the congressmen brought up that pettitte said Clemens told him he used.

I don't think you can have Double jeopardy with a mistrial.

Not exactly. They aired a video from the congressional testimony that contained reference to certain other testimony (Petite's wife) that had been ruled inadmissible. The defense didn't even catch it or object. The judge caught it on his own. Lucky for Clemens.

GOOD! Absolute waste of tax payers money. Politicians lie to us all of the time. So what if he lied about steroids. It should have never got to go them in the first place.

Before defense lawyers could object, Walton ordered a halt to the proceedings, dismissed the jury and then excoriated prosecutors for violating his order preventing any mention of what Pettitte may have told his wife.

How could they frick up this bad on such a major case?

I sure as hell hope this is the end of this Clemens BS.

Persecuting someone for federal perjury is not a waste of time IMO. Its the feds way of showing they don't frick around and lying to them will be taken extremely seriously.
