I didn't mean Oregon specifically, but spread option like auburn ran. And Mariotta isn't on Cam's level. And cam still has his struggles.

Spread offenses is way too general to categorize. There is a huge difference between what Rodgers ran and what Mariota ran.

I'd be more comfortable taking him than Jameis. He's got the physical tools but I wouldn't want him unless I had Jimbo coming with him. I just don't trust him.

How many questions did Jimbo have to answer about Winston? How many times did Winston force Jimbo to sit behind a podium and defend his stupid decisions?

If Winston had any respect for Jimbo, he wouldn't have put him in those positions. I'm not sure how you could argue against that.

I would argue strongly against that.

How? Jimbo was his boss, father figure, and Jimbo stuck up for him at every turn. And yet Winston kept on fricking around.

It was the repetitiveness of Winston screwing around, not as much the severity of his actions. How many times do you think Jimbo said "Winston, son, chill the frick out."

Gruden is just a super positive guy 90% of the time. Should be a real contrarian tomorrow night at the draft for all the fans carrying pitchforks out there.
gruden would never say anything publicly to embarrass or hurt a qb's draft stock. That is not his motive or job.

Privately he has mentioned a former qb draft pick that had the lowest football iq he had seen.

Gruden being so high on Marcus might be his way of saying Jameis "is not all that"

I think Marcus would be mediocre at best on most teams in the nfl. I think he would Excell in Philly under chip. Maybe the rest of the league thinks so too

I hope Mariota does well, but most of the talking heads other than Gruden are saying Mariota's receivers were always ten yards open and/or a large portion of his passes were screens behind the line of scrimmage. I might take him mid first round, but I certainly wouldn't mortgage the franchise.

Gruden would have taken JFF at #1 last year.

Maybe that's why Gruden can't get a job.

He has a job, could get a NFL job or college job.

I don't get the hate for Mariota. I think he's just as good if not better as well and he doesn't have a history of idiocy.

And anyone that watched Oregon games could see this. That's why I'm wondering what Gruden was talking about when he says he's seen Mariota throw into tight windows, because he didn't have to do that in games. I'm not saying Mariota can't do it, but we haven't seen it.

It's not hate. It's that QBs with his background have not fared well in the NFL. Doesn't mean he can't succeed but I'd have a tough time making the pick, unless I was Chip Kelly.

The fact that he's a good guy is the main reason he's shot up the boards IMO. He's the anti-Winston and teams desperately want an alternative because Winston's background scares them. In that process I think Mariota's become overrated.

To truly gauge their abilities I say what would happen if we swtiched their off-the-field stuff around. Does Mariota even sniff the first round if he got in the kind of trouble Winston got in? Winston has his off-the-field stuff and he's going #1. That should tell you right there who's the better QB.

I dont find mariota to be all that impressive IMO. Quarterbacks are too risky regardless.

Highly doubtful. When was the last time you heard an NFL team rumored to be kicking the tires on Gruden. As far as that goes, the only time he's mentioned as a candidate for college, it's by rantards.
