According to sources,#Sixers center Joel Embiid will have a second surgery and is likely to miss 2015-16 season.
I really thought this kid had a chance to be a star, but missing his first two years in the NBA makes that seem pretty unlikely.

At this point, a generation of center prospects have been lost.

And the 76ers continue the perpetual tank.

Healthy, Yao, Oden, Bynum, and Embiid all had incredible potential. It's a shame.

shite, bynum still was healthy enough in LA. kinda feel bad for philly on that one

Drafting bigs with an injury history is such a crap shoot. Looks like Noel is going to be okay at least.
Sixers will suck for many years.
Any season ticket holders on TD? If so, I feel bad for you. The OKC model ain't working...

Hinkie can still get multiple 2nd rd picks for him.

The OKC model can work...you just can't cheap out as a owner.
GMs can't credit themselves too much either. I think GMs get over zealous and attribute some of their draft picks more to their scouting acumen and don't give luck enough credit. These GMs think they and their systems can find and cultivate gems, when luck and timing plays a big part as well. Once these GMs and teams realize that thy have a good thing, and it's hard to replace them, and get some humility, then they be more willing to bite on the tax

when he was valued higher than wiggins for that short period

EVERYBODY should have seen this coming. And I mean everybody. A tall, lanky center that is extremely injury prone. Knew from the beginning that the 76ers were gonna be wasting a pick on him. Bust city!

I love the idea that the Sixers tanked and might have nothing to show for it wasting the pick on him.

it's odd for Kansas fan to laugh at this. A healthy Embiid, a guy who played four years of basketball, was favorably compared to Duncan and Dream.
Did you just buy heavy into Wiggins hype and felt disappointed when Embiid took the spotlight from him?
That's like cheering against Garrison Hearst because Andre Hastings was a higher rated recruit.

They were both elite recruits so it wasn't really like that. I just liked wiggins more because he was better. I never understood why embiid would be thought of as the better prospect when wiggins had a much, much higher floor than embiid and a slightly higher ceiling as well IMO. Some people disagree and think that embiid had the higher ceiling apparently, but I just don't see how. And I'm not talking badly about embiid, wiggins is just that good.
Wiggins was and still is a can't miss guy and people wanted to pass on him for a huge risk that didn't even have a higher payout. It was dumb.

I somewhat disagree with you. Obviously, you watched a lot of both guys, but Embiid just brought a potentially game changing skillset. Athletic bigs who can defend AND show a polished offensive game are the unicorn of the NBA right now. And if you have one, you will win for a long long time in this league.

I mean Noel was never really had the type of injuries that scare you in a big. Just two freak injuries. Only worry was did he rush back from his growth plate injury in high school.
Embiid has like a checklist of scary injuries for a big. He had back problems in high school and college. Now he has had this foot thing that is going to last 2 seasons.

Greg Oden with a little dick

The okc model can work, and people can win the lottery. Both take a lot of luck. Three hall of fame caliber players in a row might never happen again.
