embid is an all around talented prospect. He can play with anybody.

Damnit, hope he's ok. I was thinking we were just exaggerating his injuries since we weren't gonna play him anyway, let him redshirt.

Hopefully he's fine.

I hope that it isn't anything too serious. I thought Embiid was going to be a beast.

I used to really like what Hinkie was doing. But they are already saying that they are going to tank another season. So that basically means 4 seasons in a row. He shipped out MCW and KJ Daniels and just got more picks and Javale Mcgee. If they draft Okafor or Towns, that would be the strangest frontcourt group with Okafor/Towns, Noel, Embiid and Mcgee (not to mention Thomas Robinson as well). Hinkie is only starting his 3rd year. But he has made so many moves and what is his big catch so far? Saric?

I just don't get his plan. He should have enough assets and cap room, to build a contender. How much longer will it take? Btw, if you look at 76 boards, they are proud of what Hinkie is doing. In a smug, you'll see kind of way. They think this is the start of an epic dynasty..

A tank should last like 2 years, and then you should see progress. At this point they are just losers.

The Zinger would be a nice fit with Noel and Embiid

Russell would make more sense though

i think russell would be a great fit for them, but i know everyone expects the "off the wall potential" pick based on history

i just don't think hinkie will pass on the shooting/efficiency potential at the 1

So if they tanked for 5 years and ended up winning 3 titles in the next 10 years, the tank didn't work? Your 2 years rule is completely arbitrary.

embiid showed offensive potential, but it's still just potential and he's lost 1, possibly 2, of the most important years of his development

I'm a Sixers fan, and I'm behind tanking 100%, but I'm ready to start the payoff. Trading MCW was't a great move, his efficiency numbers would look a lot better once we put more players around him and let him facilitate. Maybe the pick we got for him we'll turn into something good, but I wasn't crazy about the MCW trade.

that KJ mcdaniels bullshite was worse. i think you have what you have with MCW. he's already exiting his "development" age era. it's more than just shooting.

i watched him in milluwake where they were actually trying to coach him and he couldn't run a pnr to save his life

i think MCW is on pace to be a middling starter or a backup energy/defense guard like what shaun livingston has become

You're probably right.

KJ McDaniels...I wasn't happy about trading him, either. Apparently something something something contract, but I think he could've been either a starter at the 2 for us long term, or a good sixth man. I like Jerami Grant's potential too, we'll see how that goes.

Tanking for 5 years in unacceptable. They aren't going to win any titles so it's irrelevant.

It all comes down to success and failure. It is so damn hard to win an NBA championship. If they do it, everything else is forgotten.

I kind of get the McDaniels trade. I just thought they bungled his signing in the 1st place. McDaniels gambled on a 1 year contract and it's going to pay way off now. The Sixers could have had him on the hook for awhile kind of cheaply. They could still go back and sign him this off season. But people said that Hinkie wasn't going to over pay. If they haven't have traded him, McDaniels would get a lot more money (finishing the year putting up big numbers for the Sixers vs. being on the end of Houston's bench). But a team is going to make those kind of mistakes when they are drafting 6-8 guys a year. How can you really develop players that way? There are only so many spots and so much attention/minutes for guys to play.

It's just a strange organization that is getting stranger. They literally have no back court players or prospects right now. If Russell goes before their pick, they are almost forced to go Mudiay or they have to trade out. If I'm the Lakers or Wolves, I'd start putting those rumors out now and force the Sixers up to 1 or 2 to guarantee Russell. I'd flat out threaten/blackmail them into it..

There is a "legitimate chance" Joel Embiid (foot) could miss the 2015-16 season entirely, a source told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
That would be absolutely devastating for Sam Hinkie, the Sixers and their fan base. Right now, there is way too much uncertainty to read too deeply into any of these reports, but this situation is escalating quickly and doesn't appear to be going down a positive path. Embiid has no timeline to return at this point, and he is not expected to play in summer league.
