Get mad at the CBA that the players and owners agreed to that explicitly states that this is the case

They don't care...it is right there in front of them should they choose to research it for five minutes. Instead they rely upon his Twitter for talking points.

Considering he lines up at WR more than TE, it's fair IMO.

Considering he's not a top 5 WR and gets his honors like the probowl based as a TE, then he should be tagged as a TE.

Jimmy is a hybrid, but if he wants WR money than any records or stats he had should be treated as a WR. His record breaking years don't look so great when you stack him up against WRs.

Again, if he wants to be tagged as a WR than his entire career should reflect it AND his records/stats should be ranked accordingly.

Its already started to happen, just look at this thread. When i bring up Gronks blocking abilities vs Grahams in previous threads "OMG YOU FRICKIN CARES? HE DOESNT NEED TO BLOCK"

But now..."he doesnt even block and he wants Top WR money!!"

...or, he is right up there with Megatron as a receiving threat. Now, "15-20 WR at best".

Not turning on him. He's always been a mismatch at the receiving TE position and a horrid/lazy/weak blocker. He's the new hybrid TE in the NFL.

He should get paid for his value ($8-$10 per), which I think is more than fair. That said, the guy isn't as huge of a game changer as people think. He can be neutralized by a physical defense, and that's really all it takes. He disappeared in tons of games this year.

He can avoid all of this drama by agreeing to a long term deal with the Saints before the need arises to place the franchise tag on him.

In the end, you are either a TE for all purposes, or not a TE for all purposes. Stop taking awards and have records claimed for you as a TE if you want WR money. I am perfectly fine with him getting WR money if he simply comes out and says his awards/records are null as far as TE goes and should be put up against WRs retroactively and in the future.

Jimmy Graham is a TE. I don't care how much you knight for him, he is not a WR. Obviously, Jimmy and his camp are going to make any argument they can to get the most money for him. Obviously the Saints are going to try to pay him the least amount of money they can. It is a business. I think they will come to terms somewhere in the middle. He should be the highest paid TE in the game and I think he will be. That does not make him a WR.

Lol. It's in the collective bargaining agreement. If being right makes me a whiny bitch, I guess I'm a whiny bitch.

Fwiw, I don't care what they call him for an extension, according to the rules for franchise tagging, he is considered a WR.

It may seem funny, but then his salary will be commensurate with being a top 15 WR rather than top at his position. He loses bargaining chips in that regard.

Franchise tagging is not the same as an extension. They can call him and pay him whatever they want for an extension. The reason these rules are in place is to protect the player because he has no negotiation power.

By NFL rule he has qualified as a WR...all Saints fans think he's the second best receiver behind Calvin...what's the problem?

Drafted as a TE. Pro Bowl as a TE. Depth chart as a TE.

He's a fricking tight end.

I am a big saints fan and can't wait to unload this guy. Let's get some draft picks and send him packing. Disappears in big games and is going to be way overpaid.

Yet by NFL rules, he's also a wide receiver

Is that for sure?

Sproles catches more balls than most running backs. Guess he's a WR, too.

This is bullshite. Jimmy is a TE
