really thought that Chris Peterson and David Shaw would have been on that list

Im not sure about Peterson, but since Shaw coaches at Stanford and its a private school, they dont release his full salary to the public. So nobody really knows how much Shaw makes. Ive seen it from anywhere from $2.5m to $4m per year, not including bonuses. If i had to guess what he makes, i think it would be between $4m-$5m. Remember, UT wanted Shaw and so does the NFL. Hes making enough $$$ to not go to those other places.

Did Sumlin get a raise because of the threat of him leaving for USC? I think he is decent coach but not worth 5 million a season. His defenses are always piss poor. They should pay him 1-2 million less and get a legit D coordinator and some decent defensive position coaches.

I'm not sure. I know he has been wanted in the NFL. aTm overpays him. It's probably important to them to keep their current recruiting advantage to UT. With him getting 5mil, he's not going anywhere.

Sarkisian is the worst on that list. 34-29 and has never even finished a season ranked.

Bump:

Steve Spurirer & Kirk Ferentz have it made. Win 8-11 games a year and make 4 million.

Based on his tenure and what he's accomplished with his talent at a nice Big 10 school, I don't see anything wrong with the amount he is making at all.

I cannot fathom why Sumlin is making 5 million a year. He has only beaten 1 ranked conference opponent in 2 seasons. Last year he went 0-4 against ranked SEC opponents. They struggled to beat Duke in their bowl game. Why did he deserve a raise?

It is pretty funny that Texas had to overpay for Strong just so they can say their coach makes as much money as A&M's coach.

With buy outs & bonuses, the year to year rankings aren't always reflective. Last year Bret Bielema compensation was over $5.1 million, he could have earned another 700K, which would have put him in first place (he was behind Saban & Brown) but he didn't win a conference game.

Bert got over $5 mil?
