It's not really a big secret, nearly all forms of autoracing use the format for big events.

Most wouldn't assume the Indy 500 was 500 laps or that the Baja 1000 is 1000 laps around the baja california peninsula.

At least I would hope not...

Friend of mine who used to go to 2 races a year, finally told me that NASCAR was rigged. He used to be a big JG fan.

It's gonna be really weird when he's done, I still don't think I can put it into words what the "redneck" sport and this specific driver has meant to me since I was about 6 years old

Maybe I'll better understand how it will affect me as I absorb it but this is really the last of my "childhood favorites" remaining in sports so it's pretty sad for me

Same here. Grew up idolizing Larry Bird, Nolan Ryan and Jeff Gordon. I obviously caught Bird and Nolan on the end of their careers. Gordon I have watched since his first race in Atlanta.

Cmon Tbird, you know that both races at Bristol/Martinsville do

I'm not a nascar fan. Would like to go to one before I kick, but if the only channel was on and it was nascar, I would take a nap.

Well if you've never been then I can understand you not liking it. If you ever went to a race it would change your opinion. TV does not give a great depiction of how fast these cars are going and how close to the wall they get.

It absolutely blows my mind that people think any sport could be rigged and no one find out

Go to a race, any sprint cup race. And you will have a different perspective

It absolutley blows my mind that a sport with so much money poured into it and owners who have a stable of drivers can't figure out a way to let somebody win.

Since you know so much about the sport, please give me a specific scenario in which this could happen. I'll hang up and listen...

Junior could take out 1/3 the field. Jimmie could take out 1/3. Casey could take out everyone else but Jeff. Jeff wins. Happens all the time.

I don't know shite about it. Thats why when my friend, who like I said, was a big Jeff Gordon fan. And after his trip back from Bristol, in which he went every year, I think the one in the fall, he told me this. And it got me to thinking and I thought I could get some opionions from you big time fans as to varify his statement. Lets talk restricter plates then. Everybody goes the same speed yet only one wins.
