Everything about this dude screams 'I'm a half retard dumb arse', yet he's constantly talked about like some kind of prodigy genius. Great test scores, high football IQ, etc. He's got to be the dumbest highly intelligent person ever.

It's only stealing on the employee's part. Trying to put any blame on a "customer" for receiving free goods from an employee is not really appropriate.
I sure hope this is a joke.

Stealing = Bad decision on him
Free = NCAA violations

So he took one for the betterment of FSU. Its fricking crab legs. Its not like its some expensive electronics or jewelry.

Maybe the Publix employees held a team vote?

Employee was clearly a Gator fan...gave him the crab legs then reported him.

Man I have stolen so many times without knowing it. Multi times waiters gave me free appetizers and I never ok'd it with ownership or the CEO. Should I turn myself in?

If the owner of the store is giving it to him then yea, free. If its just a worker slipping him some free shite then its still stealing and even Jameis knows that.

I agree about severity being relative but just discussing.

are you serious with this owner shite? If Jameis goes to the seafood section, orders crab legs, and the guy says "hey, this is on us". Then he doesn't need to go find Mr fricking Publix up in New York to see if it is ok. If his classmate sneaks stuff out the back of the store for him then yes that is him stealing. But in this case it looks like he had been getting free stuff at this location and not being charged

I got free shite from my friends working at grocery stores, daiquiri shops, bars, etc. We all knew we were stealing it. Just because we did it multiple times doesn't make it any less of a theft.

He wasn't getting this food because he was friends with the guy, he's getting it because he's Jameis Winston. Dumbass

let me add this... what if they didn't know it was Jameis Winston, THE Jameis Winston?

what if he came up in there looking like any random black guy? then they can argue they gave him crab legs out of the goodness of their heart, not because he was a celebrity. he can argue that his fame was unknown to them, so he didn't get crab legs on account of it

How is that relevant to the discussion?

Which is why I don't think it was stealing. I think the Publix employees told him his money is no good there. Then, it was documented it was a new Manager that night. That new manager wasn't aware of the deal and called the cops. At that point, Jameis/FSU had the choice for slap on the wrist of full blown major Ncaa infractions. They chose slap on the wrist. However, if he actually told the cops I was told my money was no good here by employees, he would not have been charged with stealing

Because he's profiting off of his likeness or CFB accomplishments?

You know...the whole point of the amateurism rule. Not saying I agree with the rules, but he broke the rules.

Doesn't matter whether he got hooked up with crab legs or a 72" plasma TV, getting it just because he's a heisman QB who plays for FSU is against the rules.

Are you arguing with yourself for the fun of it? Nobody has said otherwise

If LSU can get significant penalties for the Fatphuck Womack situation, FSU should get hit for this.

one guy telling him he'd hook him up with free shite doesn't make it legal to walk out with it.

Theoretically if you walked into Walmart and one of the stockers told you it was cool to take an Xbox, would it be legal? Cmon man no one is this dense.

When you have teams getting reported for giving a homeless player a place to stay for a week, it would be an even worse look for a guy like Winston and FSU not getting anything for free shite he could've paid for if he wanted to

If someone in wal mart told you that you could have the Xbox for free, and then plain as day you walked out with it, and then the cops grabbed you, 100% hey wouldn't charge you with stealing. They would take possession of the goods but you yourself are not going to be charged with stealing
