It's pretty public knowledge he had the hip issue. This could be the Cavs getting cold feet or trying to leverage Celtics into giving more or getting the Suns to finally give into their trade demands

Right. It was public knowledge about the hip issue. I expected the Brooklyn pick was intended insurance whether IT doesn't sign or health issues exist. If the trade is undone then it just makes both sides look stupid and Boston still has a likely top 5 pick.

If you know beforehand Thomas is going to walk and you have no intentions of signing him, you wouldn't trade a potential Top 5 pick for one of the better guards in the game who happen to be in his prime?

plenty of time to deal him, no reason to piss away pick and players

I'd be like "throw in Jayson Tatum and we have a deal."

Boston has already made it absolutely clear that Tatum is untouchable

If I'm Boston, I tell them to kick rocks if they start asking for more. They saw the Thomas hip injury, they know it was there. The Celtics would still be a top 3 seed even without IT for a good part of next season.

If need be, they could package Crowder and that Nets pick or one of their other firsts and get a serviceable point guard for the time being (Maybe they could call Phoenix up) and just use the cap space Thomas gives you for next offseason.

You're basically throwing in the towel on this season and a big risk going forward after IT4 is gone because now you can't replace him with a Kyrie type player.

He doesn't really give Boston much added cap space though if he's not on the team next season.

Wild Thang started it. I just answered in kind We have a long running running beef with each other, although at this point neither of us actually remembers how that even got started

And I live in San Antonio, not the greater Houston/SE TX area that's getting hit with weather. We'll just get a ton of rain in my neck of the woods. Hell, we have people from Houston evacuating here this weekend, actually.

Praying for 'em down there. Especially Rockport.

That's kind of my M.O. for life in general, not just on the internet

Irreverent, sometimes crass humor is tonic for the soul, like my brotha htran was saying.

Why would a team give up pieces for Lebron when they can wait a year, keep their pieces, and get Lebron?
